REQUESTING CRIB ADVICE

I've been looking for crib sets online and came across a crib/changing table in one! I like this because it seems practical and efficient, and gets rid of one piece of furniture, but wanted to know if anyone has had one or has heard of any PROs and CONs about this piece of furniture.

 Please advise!!!

Re: REQUESTING CRIB ADVICE

  • For us, our nursery doesn't have a space where it wouldn't hit a door or window (I want to keep the baby away from our windows because I'm not convinced there isn't a draft).  Otherwise, the only con I've heard is that some of them allow bby to us the changing table to climb out... I'm guessing it depends on how they have the two connected (it should be a flat board so baby can't use it as a ladder).

  • Cons: no space for all your baby changing goodies.... Can you imagine if you had to keep one hand on baby while bending down trying to reach the lowest drawer?

A table or low dresser would be better IMO. You can place your baby changing baskets beside the change pad and have a few drawers at the top for clothes.

Besides. If I had my toilet beside my bed, I might be a bit weirded out.

  • I had one with my 1st and will never do it again. The changing table is too small, I couldn't find a cover or thiker changing pad that was small enough to fit. He outgrew it by 6 months and his legs were hanging off. I just used the floor after that. With my daughter I got a double dresser and put the changing pad on top for a changing station. I guess it's ok for a short term solution. It is good when short on space but I'd rather just have the changing table seperate.
  • Whenever I see those I picture the kid figuring out really early how to climb over the side of the crib and use the changing table as a ladder to freedom! Maybe my kids are just monkeys (both climbed out of the crib and had to move to a bed before 18 months) but that's my first thought with this. And you have to have a very long wall to put that on.

This. I hadn't thought of it like that at first but it does make sense, it seems relatively unsanitary.

  • Well I guess Im the odd women out but I love mine. I have no space for a real dresser or stand alone changing table in DDs room and sure her legs hang off it now at 16 months old but it doesn't bother her. The shelf with the wipes is at the front right below where she lays and I can reach everything just fine without endangering her. I found a thicker changing pad and fits nicely on the table.

  • Personally, I love mine also!  For me it is a space saver and super convenient.  I guess its just personal preference.
  • I have one that has 3 drawers and 3 shelves under the changing table. It can convert so its not attached but I have it still set up as attached.

    Pros:
    Storage
    Space saver
    Convenient for night time routine
    Looks nice

    Cons:
Ds uses it to climb out. We have a crib tent now on it but he's about to transition to toddler bed and crib will be used for ds2

It's a pretty big piece of furniture so you would need to have space in the room for it.

  • Two people have already mentioned it, but the big worry with those is that the babies can use the changing table to crawl out of their crib.  I had an older version of Baby Bargains (2004-ish) and they didn't recommend that style of crib at all.
