Is this carrier "approved" by AP moms?

I always see babies in carriers at the mall but never thought much about it until I got pregnant. I would definitely like to use a carrier but I am kind of clueless.

I really like the print on this carrier. Is this considered an acceptable carrier? I have read that the bjorn (which I see everywhere) isn't good but I have never heard of this brand.

Thanks!

  • Yup that's a good one. It's a Mei Tai style carrier. I can't stand them, trying to tie it on while trying to to drop my kid is too hard for me lol. I can never get it tight enough and don't find it comfortable. I know many people love them though. I got a Boba 3G which is similar but buckles instead of ties and I love it!

  • It's "good" in that it provides knee to knee support.  As the pp mentioned, a carrier which doesn't provide knee to knee support isn't thought to be particularly good for baby's hips and spine.  It's also FAR more comfortable for the wearer to have baby supported knee to knee as it snugs baby's weight into the wearer's body.  If you are interested in more info on carrier types, my siggy link might help you.  Oh, and I think mei tais are fabulous for newborns ;)
  • I love our Infantino "Balance" carrier.  Just did a pretty physical 5 hour hike and a 3 hour hike in the Rocky Mountain National Park with our 7.5 month old on my back (and nursed her for part of the way in a front carry while still heading up the mountain).  It is very comfortable, even though I am fairly tall, and my LO seems like be happy in it.  She definitely can sleep comfortably in it.
  • We have that one and like it.  The long straps take a bit of practice, but I can wrap DS by myself no problem. You can use it as a back carrier, too, when LO gets older.

Oops!  Thanks for the heads up :)  Glad you found it anyway!

  • Just happened to see this, and I have that same carrier. It is a fine, affordable option in the mei tai style.

Personally, I liked it ok, but didn't love it. Likes: like all mei tais, there are lots of ways you can tie it, so it grows with your child, and it seems to be very sturdy. (I wore my toddler in it a month or so ago, so it definitely ages well). Dislikes: this is more of a personal preference, but the fabric was very heavy and a little stiff which made tying a little challenging, it's one size fits all so the straps were very long for my petite size, and I also found it rather hot due to both the color and the weight of the fabric. I live in Florida and do most of my baby-wearing outdoors, though, so my idea of hot may be different than yours. Smile I ended up loving my ring sling the best, because it was cooler and quicker to get on and off, but the mei tai is nice to have for back carries, so I guess it's not bad to have it around.

    HTH!
