Burnt popcorn and other workplace annoyances - share!

Apparently burning popcorn is becoming fashionable in my office. The building may be large but the group of employees isn't, so there's no way I can post a sign or anything anonymously. Since my mother's the boss, I can't say anything openly without coming across as dictatorial. Normally I wouldn't smell it but my pregnant nose knows all...

Lucky for me, that's the worst of it lately! :)

So... what's your biggest pregnancy-related work pet peeve?

    Mine is that I get tired faster than I used to. It has always been that I have energy that comes in short, intense bursts throughout the day, longer and stronger bursts in the morning and late at night. Now the bursts are shorter and sometimes less intense and I don't get those late night bursts as often anymore.

    I mostly work for myself so at least I don't have to deal with working with others.

    When people come to work sick! It makes me so angry.. there is a lady at my work who is visibly sick and coughing all over her cube and in the kitchen area.  She is notorious for coming in to work sick... we all went to her boss and complained last winter and when her boss brought it up to her, she said she HAD to work...  thre is no excuse we get 24 days of vacation/PTO/sick time...  GROSS!

    I've worked in cramped offices and cubicle farms, but until I moved next to my now coworker, I have never been more annoyed by anyone in my life.  Her chronic crunching on celery all day long (weird crash diet?), brushing her hair for minutes at a time, reading emails out loud to herself, staring at my computer every time she gets up, humming nonsense songs... I'm going to throw something at her one day!

    I work from home now but I have to attend quarterly meetings in our home office in California.  We always meet in a conference room by the kitchen and I must tell you I do not enjoy smelling other people's lunches for half the day 4 days in a row especially pregnant in my first tri (luckily I have been excused for the rest of my pregnancy from attending).

    When I worked in an office every day this was one of my biggest pet peeves.  I am all for people bringing food they enjoy for lunch but come on people use common sense.  Don't bring in food that is overly smelly when heated up.  One co-worker would routinely bring cabbage dishes or things he would dump malt vinegar on.  I love these foods too but I know that not all people enjoy smelling them.  No one wants to smell it for the rest of the day or every time they go for coffee and such.

    Sorry rant over :-)

    Burnt popcorn for me also! UGH! We have an ancient microwave in our office that doesn't cook evenly. We've all worked here over a year so I guess people truely don't care if they eat burnt popcorn. They cook it anyway & it always burns. The smell makes me sick.

    I HATE it when the 2 other guys in my office are always turning off the air conditioner!!! They have small offices so it gets really cold in their office, but my desk is right in front of the window so heat comes right on to where i sit, and its a big room so i never get any releif. I feel like posting a sign saying keep this room cool!!! LOL

    I'd never get away with it thou, since like you, everyone will know who did it. Plus, im the only woman in the office and i only work with 2 guys ... soooo... waaaa im HOT!!!

    the 6th grade hallway. I have to go down the 6th grade hall to leave work (I work in the 8th grade hall which is on the second floor.) OMG. I mean, the bo issue has always been a 6th grade vice, but with a pregnancy sniffer....i hold my breath. Ew, ew, and double ew.

    The person two cubes down from me is coughing up a lung....seriously, just stay home please! I'm not trying to catch anything. 

     The person who sits next to me is always cussing out loud, and yelling at his computer. Singing/humming along to his head phones. He even clicks his mouse/hits his keyboard to go along with his songs. He taps his feet loudly to the beat as well.....
