How did you get KU?

How did you get KU? I know, you had sex, but...forget your pill? you were trying? your nail popped a whole in the condom? you have no clue? you're that 1 in 2,000?

For me, it was a game called "Just the tip..." combined with my terrible habit of skipping BCPs, which is still reigning supreme. Good thing we're using condoms as a backup method. No 2u2 for me, please.

Oh, I should also add...we moved in together October 1st. KU a month later, lol. All that alone time...

Re: How did you get KU?

  • I was on the pill and was taking antibiotics in November because of a sinus infection and strep throat. I had never gotten pregnant before while taking antibiotics in the 8 years I had been on bc so I was super shocked when I tested right before Christmas and it was positive.

  • Hhahah Love this!!!

Well for us it was a night we can't remember!

1 TO MANY FLAMING DR PEPPERS!

  • I got pregnant the second month I was off the pill. Nothing exciting here haha
  • We stopped using any bc and said whatever happens happens. We weren't planning cycles but we weren't preventing anything either.

  • We got wrecked at the bar and had drunk, sloppy sex for the first time in over a month. We hadn't been using any type of BC for 3 years and had lo luck conceiving. So I was very surprised. Especially because the week before I found out my sister was pregnant for the second time in the time we had been trying to conceive. I was sad, depressed and super jealous.

  • We had been trying for 6 months with no luck. We decided to take a break because it was getting frustrating and i didn't want an august/fall baby because i am a teacher. That month we had sex ONCE. It was Thanksgiving weekend. Surprise!

  • I should also add that even with very good insurance it cost $4000.  If we had been OOP it would have cost around $20,000.

I was lucky no Lupron suppression and PIo for only one week after. My medical bills for IVF were 27,000 dollars in 2011 (well, that did count my gall bladder surgery and teeth surgery, but I think that was only 1 or 2 thousand). That didn't count the 3500 in non-covered prenatal care between January and February 16 when they released me at 14 weeks. I'm jealous of everybody who can get magically pregnant!

Eh, getting pregnant isn't the issue for me...staying pregnant is. But, I'm jealous too, of everyone that doesn't have any complications/doesn't have to take progesterone...which is like the devil's drug. That sh!t made me SO sick. 20,000 is ridiculous. Christ.

No, just vaginal suppositories twice a night. My vagina did break out in a rash at first though, that was fun. I basically called off half my days for the first five months. I lost 20 pounds and just puked my brains out every day. It sucked, because at that time I was lurking on here and everyone was complaining about "regular" morning sickness, and really...that's all I wanted...just normal pregnancy symptoms.

Thank goodness insurance covered that! Even with insurance, a zofran pump is still pricey, right? My friend had one that was several hundred a month!

DS is the result of DH's birthday sex ;) I stopped taking the pill mid-November and DH's birthday is 11/30 so I got pregnant immediately.

This was us. I stopped taking my pill because it was making me depressed and we got pregnant on DH's birthday 11-19.

  • Wow. Mine is really different from everyone else's. My husband and I broke up and he moved out at the end of October. I started feeling lonely around the end of November and my resistance buckled. It was a big shock when I found out 8 weeks later, especially since I'd been told I had PCOS, had done Clomid years before and basically told that there was no chance of me conceiving. Here we are a year later and still broken up, but now I have all the family I need!

  • Got pregnant almost exactly one month after our wedding. I didn't want to be on BC because it turned women in my family into monsters, so we were just using condoms and the rhythm method, but clearly that didn't work! I should have known, though, since DH and his siblings were conceived despite his parents using three forms of contraception every time. Needless to say, I'm on BC and we won't be DTD as often as we were.
  • We had been trying for 16 months. Just started going to an RE, he did an ultrasound and saw I was about to ovulate which I knew from charting for so long, had me do Opks so they could schedule a PCT post coital test. We were babysitting our niece and nephew, I got a opk and we dtd once they fell asleep! I found out just after Thanksgiving and we joked that the RE was so good, he didn't even have to do treatments to get his pateients pregnant! We were scheduled to do iui for the next cycle...but luckily we never made it that far!
