August 2012 Moms

Once your LO started sleeping 6 hours straight for the first stretch,

how long did it take for them to get to 7,8 or 9 hours? And how old were they when they did it? DD2 is 6 weeks old and has been going 7 hours between eating which makes 6 hours total of sleeping time in the crib for the first stretch for the past two nights so only one feeding/night. The week before this, she was doing 5 hour stretches. She then eats, is back in her crib about an hour later and then will sleep another 3 or 4 hours. This has been great and I'm hoping it continues and gets even better. Just curious how long it took your LO to go longer stretches?

I remember DD1 started STTN (9pm-6am) around 9 weeks old but honestly cannot remember what her schedule was like before she started STTN.

Re: Once your LO started sleeping 6 hours straight for the first stretch,

  • In the span of a week DS has gone from sleeping 3 to 4 hours to sleeping 7 to 8. It could just be a fluke but he's done it the last 3 nights in a row so who knows. He's 7 weeks old, will be 8 on Wednesday.

  • Well I better find some wood to knock on...but the past 4 days, DS has slept 8pm-4am and he's 8 weeks old. He's been sleeping 8pm-1 or 2am and then 4am-7am since about 6 weeks old.

  • DS has only sttn once and it was 10hours. This was a couple of days ago. I really feel like I jinxed myself by calling everyone in excitement because he has gone back to his regular sleep schedule since. Which is 5 to 6 hours, feed, another 3 to 4 hours.

  • It was over a week or two. He had been sleeping four since the day he came home. Then it was five by three weeks. Then all of a sudden it was six like a week and a half ago and it's slowly gotten to last night when he went eight hours.

Then and now. How did my boy get so big?

  • It took about a week to go from 6 or so to 9 or 10.  Though, I think he's going through a growth spurt b/c he woke up early this morning.
  • My LO has slept for 6 hours since she was 2 weeks old, around 7 weeks she started sleeping 8 hours, and just now, at 10 weeks she is sleeping 9 most nights.  And just in the last 2 weeks, she has been going back down after eating for another 3-4 hours (most days)--before she was up for the day.

Oh--and my LO doesn't nap during the day.  Just 10-15 minute cat naps here and there, but rarely a long nap.

  • LO has never slept more than 4 + hours at a time. Maybe one day we will have this issue.
