How did your water break?

I love hearing all the water breaking stories. I was in bed and sat up and was like. "Oops." And then changed my undergarments and went potty. I went back to bed and was like "what the heck. Why do I keep peeing my pants???" 2:00 AM definitely took a bit to click.

DD was a tiny gush and then slow trickles. I wasn't even convinced it was my water. With DS, doc had to break it during labor.

Mine was broken at the hospital in an attempt to induce labor before they started pitocin. It was a very odd sensation. They packed towels under my bottom, inserted some kind of rod, it felt like they hooked a piece of it and then tugged. Everything just gushed. I was always so paranoid it would break in a store or at work.

With #1 I was at my 39 week check up and right as I walked out of the doctors office, I went to the bathroom down the hall. After I was done peeing, I stood up, but it felt like I continued peeing. Lol it was so strange. I walked back into my doctors office and said I know this is crazy but I think my water just broke. Sure enough she checked me again and sent me straight to the hospital. It was pretty perfect.

With #2 I was induced and they broke my water. Both sure easy and pretty ideal circumstances. Nothing e,harassing at least.

With my first it didn't break until I was half way through labour. My first didn't even drop until going through labour.

With my second I was sitting on the couch watching a cartoon movie with my son and I heard a "pop" I jumped up and ran to the washroom to discover the plug was gone, I started leaking and kept leaking a lot, the pains started about 20-30 minutes later.

They broke my water at the hospital when I was in labor. I was so exhausted at that point that I don't really remember it.

This was basically my story with Ds. Except I was already in labor from Cervadil/Pitocin and my water just wasnt breaking. And the rod thing looked exactly like a big crochet hook. Lol I don't really remember feeling anything because I had already received an epidural.

Several hours into labor and an hour after getting to the hospital, I felt a pop and a gush while lying in bed during a contraction. I got the epidural about 90 minutes later.

DS was breech and had a scheduled csection. They broke it during the surgery.

With DD it started with a very slow leak at about 4:00am. At 9:00am I went to get checked out, they said it was nothing and sent me home. It leaked all day and I started having contractions about 7:00pm.
Went back to the hospital around midnight. A couple hours later they were inserting an internal monitor accidentally really broke it the rest of the way. Things went really crazy then and DD was born a very shot time later.

Mine broke at 7:30 in the morning as I was going to get out of bed. Several slow trickles. Large gush when I got to the hospital. They thought about checking me, but I told them not to dirty up another room and take me to delivery. They trusted me

I started having some contractions on Sunday the 16th of jan had a doctor appointment. on Monday the 17th and was still having contractions however dr said to try and wait a little longer. that night in middle of the night I was so sick and new I was in labor went to hospital at 6 am and and my water was broken at 4 cm at 9 am. My son was born at 11:02 that night.

Mine was broken at the hospital when I got to 6cm, got the epi and pit. I'm glad it didn't break in public, because I had A LOT of fluid. They had to change the pads under me like three or four times.

Mine broke like yours OP. I couldn't sleep that night so finally my DH came out of our room to ask me if I was coming to bed around 11:30pm... I said, I guess so.

I went to bed, and fell asleep pretty quickly. About an hour later I woke up and had to pee, typical... Considering you have to pee every hour at 39w. I thought the feeling would pass, but it didn't. So I got up and before I could get to the bathroom my PJ bottoms were soaked! And my first thought was "oh man! I peed my pants!" So I want to the bathroom and when I just kept peeing (b/c you know it wasn't the usual drop or two) I knew something was up... Took me a couple seconds but I started screaming "MY WATER BROKE!" Then my second thought was, "yes! This baby is coming today. They can't send me home after my water breaks!"

I actually pushed with my bag of water still intact, my MW finally broke it right as DD's head was crowning. My DH said that every time I pushed it looked like a white-ish balloon was inflating, weird! Apparently my nurse and MW were scared that my bag was just going to explode all over them because they were holding up towels and DH said their eyes just kept getting bigger and bigger!

This was exactly me! I wasn't too sure it was my water either. I decided to clean the house at 2 am though, just in case it really was my water breaking. That way the neighbors who were supposed to come watch our dogs wouldn't walk into a dirty house. So once that was done, I sat on the couch and timed contractions. I had been having real contractions since I was 25 weeks so that wasn't a good indicator, until I had another gush of water. That's when I told the hubby he was going to have to call out of work that day.

Both times, I woke up in the middle of the night, then felt a gush of water. Went from deep sleep to wide awake in about 0.2 second. lol

The dr broke my water for me in the hospital when I was induced. Nothing exciting about my story. But I will say that having your water broken is the grossest feeling. You're peeing your pants but can't stop it. Ew.

With #1, my water broke in the middle of the night while sleeping. I woke up and told DH I think I just peed in the bed:) I got up and showered and we headed to the hospital with towels in my pants. Contractions started immediately but were not super close together. DS was born 17 hours later.

#2 was a slow leak that had to be broken all the way during labor which ended up c-section.

I was getting ready for work and popped my leg up on the tub to put lotion on it and felt a warm gush. I was only 34 weeks so it was kind of scary. DD was born 6 hours later.

I had a couple little spurts after I peed when I woke up on my due date from a small rupture, but it didn't really break until after I had my epidural and was about 7 cm. It broke when the MW was checking me, poor woman!

I lost my plug about a week before and I was 2 days from my CS date so I totally thought I was going to make it. I woke up at 6 am on the couch b/c I couldn't get comfortable any where. I adjusted and kinda sat up to go to the bathroom and I could feel it pop and rushed (waddled) to the bathroom where it bascially began to gush down my leg. I sat on the toilet and cleaned the floor then went upstairs and told DH it was time. I kept leaking though- maybe one sac burst and the other had a slow leak.

We got to the hospital around 7, I was 8cm by 7:30, they gave me terb to slow me down b/c baby A was breech, and the girls were born at 8:33 and 8:34 am. Seriously terb was the worst part of it, it made me shake like crazy.

I started having contractions early in the morning. DH wanted to go the hospital immediately. I went back to sleep for a few hours. Then he woke me up, telling me it was time to go the hospital. I told him, no not yet.

Finally around 8:30 AM, I agreed to go to the hospital (DH bribed me by offering McDs and donuts on the way). Got to the hospital, sitting in triage, when I suddenly felt like I had to go to the bathroom, like RIGHT NOW. DH went to get the nurse because I was being monitored. When they came back, I said "I think it's too late...sorry".

I was so embarrassed, I thought I peed all over the bed. But as soon as I got off the bed, the nurse said "nope, that was your water breaking". LOL!

Then just 3 hours later, DD was in my arms!
