Cloth Diapering

Registering for cloth diapers?

I am really trying to NOT buy a bunch of "stuff" for baby.  I'm really anti-clutter.  (I know, easy for me to say now!)  I don't think we're going to have a ton of stuff on our registry, and probably a lot of it will be the expensive stuff- stroller, car seat, etc.  So I think registering for cloth diapers is a good idea because individually the cost is affordable for a small gift.  My question is....  I'm worried about registering for them because who knows what is going to work with my baby.  If there's one thing I learned it's that you really don't know what will work until you've tried a bunch of types.  Anyone have any insights? Advice?

Re: Registering for cloth diapers?

  • There seems to be a good market for reselling cloth diapers.  If you register for a variety and unfortunately some don't fit your baby well, maybe you could sell those and buy more of the ones that work.

  • If you use myregistry.com, you can register at any store's website, so you could include a whole variety of CD options. That's what I did, and I loved it.

    It all revolves around you.
  • We rolled the dice and registered for only one type of diapers.  We wanted to keep it simple with just one type, and thankfully, they've worked wonderfully so far.   We had several showers and had a large registry at Target, and received about half of our stash of Charlie Banana diapers and were able to get the rest with gift cards.

  • I registered for a variety and received a variety. It was nice.

  • I would register for a variety-- I recommend Kelly's Closet because you can get free diapers for spending a certain amount of money. If you DO use Kelly's Closet, don't register for Kawaii diapers, those seem to be the ones that I most often get for free from them!

Also, make sure to register for wet bags, rash stuff, detergent, etc.

  • We registered for a variety.

  • I didn't get gifted any, but we did buy a variety. I recommend getting at least a couple types just in case. Also, you can add accessories to your registry.... cloth wipes if you want to use them (or extra baby washcloths), diaper cream, wetbag(s)...

And of course, be prepared for people to shop off registry.

  • we registered on amazon and they sold a variety of CD through different retailers (rarely were they fulfilled by amazon).

I also was able to register for my Earth Mama Angel baby stuff, wet bags, sprayer, etc

A bunch of friends went in together for me and bought a fuzzibunz set of 12 which was awesome. It was such a great help to have that expense covered.

This!  I also registered at jilliansdrawers.com.  It's not a store local to me, but it is to a good friend of mine in NY.  There's LOTS of info on their site along with a pretty wide variety of diaper types! :)

  • We had decided to do prefolds and pockets. I registered for the best reviewed prefolds and then a broad variety of covers and pocket diapers. I registered on Amazon.com I was also able to register for things like snappis and wet bags, etc.
I am having trouble updating tickers--But I am due on April 2015. I have 2 older step children: 9 and 14 yrs and I also recently had 2 younger children: 2 years and 1 year... so this means I will be having 3 under 3--and trying to fit our family of 7 into our minivan--eek!
