TTC after 35

Reminder- this is a melting pot board

Ladies,

just a reminder that this board is for any woman over 35 who is TTC, whether it is #1 or #100. We are all different and I know it is really hard for those of us having major trouble etc to see the other ladies who have kids and many on the first/second try.  But you can't chase them away. Even though some of us are IF, this isn't an IF board. If you are having a bad day, you don't have to post on someone's post that you can't relate to. Just skip it or go to the IF board for the day until you feel stronger.

  • Nicely put McIrish!
Me 39 & suspected PCOS, DH 42. Went off BCP when we got married in 11/11, seriously TTC since 3/12.  Six cycles of clomid = BFNs.  Suspected endometriosis & HSG showed both tubes blocked.  Sept 2013 IVF 5D transfer of two perfect embryos = BFN.  Started acupuncture and taking time off to drop some pounds & get healthier before FET in April 2014.

  • I'd like to say the reverse is also true. If someone's comment about wishing for child-free spaces or expression of bitterness bothers you, just ignore them. And definitely don't post on pregnant>35 or TTGP about how negative TTC>35ers are!
  • Thanks for the reminder McIrish.

  • Thank you for this. It's nice to feel welcome even though I have children. In case I didn't mention it in my intro post, my TTC journey began over 11 years ago, and in that time I've been blessed with 3 children. But none of them came easily, and I have suffered 2 losses. I have long cycles, I frequently have anovulatory cycles, and I have very difficult pregnancies when I'm fortunate enough to have one.
Please just keep in mind that just because a woman has children, that's not necessarily an indication that she has had an easy time getting them.
I'm very sorry to those of you who haven't been as fortunate yet, and I will be here to lend my support and encouragement as long as you'll have me.

  • Yes, I realize my outburst was uncalled for.  I was going to apologize but I see that the original post is gone.  I guess what got to me is that the poster didn't even mention her age.  I really didn't think that she had posted on the right board and I overreacted to her enthusiasm and pictures of her kids.  And yes, I do realize that there are women here who already have kids and that isn't something that bothers me.  Anyway, I'll keep my negative thoughts to myself...usually I do and I skip over posts that bother me.  I'm not sure what set it off yesterday.  I'm sorry that I gave someone the impression that they don't belong on TTC>35.

  • I try to think in general with other women and their kids that what they have doesn't change my journey one iota. Its not like they stole that baby from me. I am still having trouble regardless. So I am glad to hear successes and wish women could have babies when they wanted them and didn't have to suffer whether it's their first or fifth.
Me:39 Dx LPD, Fibroid, AMA and all that goes with that. H:37 Dx low motility and low morphology. TTC since 3/12. Clomid 8/12 and 9/12: BFN. 11/12 on a break for Myomectomy sched. 11/26. Resume TTC early 2013.
  • Thanks for posting this McIrish. I'm new here, and won't be TTC until next year, but wanted to get to know you ladies. I've been reluctant to post because I felt others might feel like, "what does she have to complain about." if I posted about any anxieties I might have TTC over 35.

From what I've seen of this board it's a really supportive and fun space. So it's nice to see that everyone feels like we can all be kind and understanding towards each other no matter where someone might be on the TTC journey.

Although like pp said, I can handle people making the odd snarky comment if they're having a rough day.

  • I haven't been on here for a while but I'm glad you posted this. There's IF and 3T for those ladies that want siggy warnings and no pregnancy tickers. This board should be a melting pot, like you said. Thanks.
