What kind and do you love it? We are getting one for christmas and need help deciding. I'm leaning right now to a ipad just because its so userfriendly for my 18 month old. But the price tag is rough.
I have the iPad 2. It is so user friendly. Both my girls use it with no problem. I think it's totally worth the money, but I'm an Apple geek. Try looking for an iPad 2 on sale.the prices on them did go down some when the new iPads came out. Also most Wal-mart are doing layaway and you can put it in there.
I have a kindle fire. The apps kind of suck. I'd do an iPad but can't justify the cost when we own three MacBooks and two iPhones.
Yes..very true! We were due for a phone upgrade so DH got the iphone 5 and I did the 4s. I knew if we got a tablet, why do I need a fancy phone. 4s was free And lets be honest..DH prob wont get much time on the tablet.

Thanks! Been looking into that one. I'm even ok getting apple refurbished since they still honor the 1 yr. warranty.
I have a Nook Color for book reading, and a Samsung Galaxy Tab for everything else. I adore the Galaxy Tab for internet surfing, but I like the screen on the Nook for heavy reading, and Google Apps is comparable (but not as extensive) as the Apple Store. I refuse to shell out so much money for an IPad, but I would love to have some of the Apps that are proprietary to Apple.

I have a kindle fire and I'm having a problem with the charging port so I'm looking for something to replace it with. I think I'll keep an eye on this thread.
Is it still under warranty? This is apparently common. They replaced mine with a new one, despite my purchasing a refurbished one (directly from them obviously), but it was within the year.
DD watches little shows on my Fire but I don't have any apps on it for her. She plays lots of little games on the ipad. It's incredible how she can turn both on, find what she wants and play. I think the ipad is definitely easier to use for little ones but the cost is ridiculous (ours was a gift).
I'm glad this was posted because I'm close to buying a Kindle Fire for the girls bday (Ok, more for me but I want them to be able to play with it). I really want an Ipad but just dont have the money right now.
I did some some decent priced refurbished Ipad 1st Generation. Are these any good? Can u still get all the apps? I'm new at all this and dont understand the whole generation thing.
I have a kindle fire but I rooted it and lost the initial OS so I would probably favor anything with an android interface. If it comes with the latest OS (jellybean) it actually functions similarly to an ipad in ease, but has more features. So I'd probably weigh over to some android based tablet. TBH I'm looking at possibly getting a nexus 7 at some point. So I'd probably suggest that.

My SIL has a 1st generation ipad and it's wonderful for her 2 yr old. It doesn't have all the perks of the newer ipads (front camera, updated system, etc) BUT yes.. all apps on the apple store should work. I said if it's under $400 I'd bite... kind of hoping prices will go down during the holiday season but Apple is known to never do that. Maybe a refurbished sale. A friend snagged a ipad 2 for $319 a few months ago. So mad I didn't jump.
DH has basically every decent tablet out there for work. Based on the ones I see him using the most, he prefers the Galaxy Tab, the iPad, and an Asus. We actually own the Asus. He sold the iPad we used to have because he generally prefers Android and we never used it. I have a Kindle Fire which I like, but I didn't care so much about extensive apps and wanted something smaller that could fit in my purse and be held and operated in one hand. The Kindle Fire doesn't even have all of the apps available that I can get on my (Android) phone, fwiw, so I don't know that it's really a great option. It's more like an ereader that you can also use to get on the internet and play a few games, IMO.
My husband works for best buy. I recommend going to a best buy and asking if they have an open box item. They will take about 100 bucks off for it being returned previously. They work perfectly fine, they wont be resold if there are defects. I have a galaxy tab 10.1 but it is old now (got it last xmas). I want to trade it in for something newer, maybe a galaxy note or ipad.

Thanks for adding your comments re: what you've seen your DH using the most. I dropped into this thread b/c DH and I decided to forgo gifts to each other this Christmas and just get a tablet instead, so are interested to hear people's opinions.
I love the new iPad! DD is too young to use it, but I like having it for entertainment during late night feedings. I have an iPhone too, but the bigger screen is better for browsing and reading books.
Re: If you have a tablet
I like mine. I think that it serves a purpose. I also have free apps on it that my girls play too.

ipad.
Actually, my DH uses it more, so I can't give specific advice on it, but he loves it.
One for at home and the other one for when we go out.

Ipad
I love it. User friendly. Lots of apps for the whole family.
