2nd Trimester

Egg Safety and a waitress w/attitude

So I was at a restaurant this week and ordered fried eggs and told the waitress that they need to be fully cooked (aka not runny) b/c I'm pregnant and my doc said only to eat fully cooked eggs while carrying.   So the waitress looks at me and says with a rude tone, "What kind of doctor are you seeing?  I'VE NEVER heard of that before". So she's like making me feel bad for being cautious about food safety during my pregnancy and making it sound like I'm going to some wacko doctor.

So I tell her the clinic the DR is at and she said she went there too and my DR must be crazy because her daughter is a year and a half old and she never got ill from eating runny eggs.  Like seriously, this waitress was so rude and made me feel like a terrible mother for being cautious (or crazy!!!)

Needless to say after several more rude/snide comments on her part and her forgetting several things with our order the manager took over waiting on our table and took care of our bill b/c the waitress was such a nasty lady.

Just had to share this! I was so angry!! lol

  • I'd be angry, too!  She had no right to question you OR your doctor.  She's a server - so she should just shut up and serve you!!!  Sorry you had to go through that.

  • Good Lord.

Maybe you should have said something like, "Oh, nevermind then. Sunny side up. And while you're at it, could you put a cigarette out in the yolk?"

  • That was totally rude!  but I've never heard that you can't eat runny eggs either.  They are my favorite and I eat them at least once a week.
  • what a twatwaffle!  NO TIP. :)

  • I would have been pissed at her attitude.  Who the heck does she think she is.

But on a side note... dippy eggs are delicious!  I'm a bad pregnant lady like that... eating runny eggs and even *GASP* raw cookie dough.  Oh well, the more heads my baby has the more of her there is to love.

  • Dude, next time just order your fried eggs over hard and call it a day.
  • I love how random people think they know everything.

During the first few weeks of my pg i accidentally took 2 prenatals and 1 tums instead of 2 tums and 1 prenatal...I was nervous so I called the dr., I got his answering service and told the OPERATOR, NOT DOCTOR, what happened...he response was a giggle and well, its too late now. I wanted to reach though the phone and choke her.  I told her off in so many words then submitted a written complaint to my dr.

I think it's SO rude that idiots like to tell you how to manage your pregnancy. Just shut up and take my order!

  • Pregnancy or no, you're not supposed to eat runny eggs. I love them, BUT there is still a risk of salmonella.

Where I live many of the menus at diners have a small disclaimer about eggs and meat at the bottom. They will cook to order, but the recommendation is to cook well done.

And she is a waitress... not your doctor. If you ask for your eggs with ketchup, pickles, and a side of ice cream it's none of her business.
