When do you start tummy time? We have the little mat with a pillow. My son already tries to hold his head up when we burp him and lay on our chest.
Also, since he was first bon he sleep 4 hours between feedings, just today he has been waking up every 1-1 1/2 hours to eat. Could this be a growth spurt? He is also now very fussy and squirmy for about 20-30 minutes after feedings. We give him 2 oz each time.
Thanks!
Re: Tummy time and feedings?
I put DS on my chest all the time - he has been starting to hold his head up or props his head on his hands. So for now this has been his tummy time, on average I would say he spends a good 2 hours on my chest, he's most comfortable that way and he usually falls asleep like that.
DS has been eating every hour and a half for the past two days, but he has only been eating an ounce to ounce and a half. Prior to that he was eating close to 3 ounces and sleeping for about 3 hours; I never thought about the growth spurt.
DS is formula fed and we had to change him over to Enfamil Gentlease for now - he has been very gassy and the gentlease seems to be helping.
We wait until the cord falls off before doing TT. Then I usually do as PP said start with naps on my belly while he's on his belly. Once he gets bigger & is awake more we'll use a mat.
As far as growth spurt..yes perfectly normal to have one around 7 days. The fussiness is also "normal" at that age as their bodies start to get used to the formula you are feeding. Watch for constipation or excessive fussiness though as that could indcate allergy or reflux.
We are bottle feeding breast milk, does it still take a while for him to get used to it?
Thank for the answers!
