  • Big WOOT and TOOT to Daysie!!!

Update: Had another date with vag cam 2012 today and my follies are looking good. Still suspecting I'll be triggering Sat night for a Monday AM ER.

OOTD: I am a "senior creative" at a design firm. Basically I'm a graphic designer/illustrator with some concepting & brainstorming skillz who can make commercials and stuff like that.

We do a TON of work for General Mills. We handle all of the kid cereals (Trix, Honey Nut Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Monster Cereals, etc...) as well as fruit snacks (Fruit by the Foot, Gushers, Fruit Roll-ups). We draw the characters and the art and make up the games/activities on the back. We also handle other big companies like 3M, Heinz and some stuff for Target.

For another job... I would love to own my own art/craft supply/stationary store and specialize in custom party supplies and giftwrapping. Stick out tongue

  • Update: I posted a BFP post... Today is 6dp5dt, Beta has been rescheduled for the 17th.

QOTD:  What do you do for a living and if you had to choose another job what would it be??

Right now, I'm a SAHW. I left my job as an assistant manager for a Coach store back in February to do IF treatments. It just didn't seem possible to continue to work retail while going through treatments. I would love a career. I have a BS in Professional Counseling, but there isn't much of anything you can do with that unless you continue with your education, and I just haven't had the desire to go back to school. I didn't mind my job, and Coach is a great company to work for. Not many retailers offer benefits to part-timers, but they do. I wouldn't mind doing Admin work either, I worked at a pediatric office before we had to move from NJ to MD and I loved that job.

  • No updates here, but BIG CONGRATS to Daysie!!!! Our first BFP!

QOTW: I am a freelance Scenic Artist. I paint backdrops and scenery for theater, film, and TV. I've done various projects ranging from small non profit theater, to Off B'way, to commercials, as well as two TV shows for BRAVO!  I'm also occasionally a college professor. I teach Scenic Painting at my Alma Mater every other spring semester. If I had the opportunity, I'd love to paint full time and join the union. To be employed in a scenery studio or shop would be amazing.

With ongoing treatments, I've taken a break from freelancing. I needed a bit more stability for the moment. So this year I've been working pretty much full time as a temporary support assistant at a major financial ratings firm. It's the complete opposite of the spectrum compared to what I actual want to do, but it'll do for now. I'm set to teach again as of January so I'm hoping to not be here too much longer!

  • Update:
Still on BCPs and Lupron. Baseline appointment next Wednesday. Waiting waiting waiting. I asked my nurse today what her thoughts are on me getting the flu shot. She said "Do it and do it NOW." So I'm gonna go get stabbed tomorrow by someone other than my DH. Eek.

    Congrats to Daysie!!!

QOTD:  What do you do for a living and if you had to choose another job what would it be??
I work for a small family-owned aircraft company. I build/case gauges (torque, oil temp, etc) for helicopters mainly but some planes as well. We mostly work with the military. My mom has worked here for years and years so the people here have always been like a second family to me. I work in a different department than my mom, though!
If I had to choose another job it would definitely be something hands-on at the zoo working with the big animals.

A lot of you ladies have some really interesting jobs!! What a creative bunch!!

  • Update:  In the dreaded 2ww.  Thank god it's a short one this time because of the 5dt.  Also super glad to be back at work after 2 days of couchrest because at least I'm distracted now!  Unfortunately, I don't have a very good feeling about this cycle and we didn't get any frosties. ;-(  I guess we'll know one way or the other soon enough...

QOTD:  I'm a professor of anthropology at university.  I teach during the school year and do research in Africa in the summers.  When I was younger I wouldn't have chosen a different career for anything, but now that I'm a bit older/more settled, I really abhor the all the traveling that DH and I have to do for our research.  Don't get me wrong, Africa's great, I just wish we could be home/near our families more often.  My sister's a real estate agent and sometimes it seems like the perfect job!  She makes tons of money (she lives/works in a really hot market), and her schedule is flexible enough that she is there for all of her kids school stuff and the kids generally don't have to go to daycare/babysitters, etc.

Update: I'm in 2ww group now :) I'm pretty cautious in all I do. Luckily I get to just be lazy! The FET wasn't scary nor painful. I didn't take anything and my RE and embryologist sound very confident! I'm excited and I do hope this works out!

QOTD: I'm actually a SAHW. I love it! My home is taken care of the way I like (neat freak) and my DH gets taken care of. He works 12+hrs a day so it's nice to make him feel less stress when coming home. I so have my degree in early childhood and did teach prek for a while, but its time for me to stay at home and hopefully get  promotion of SAHM :)

I am so exciting for you! FX and everything else you get that promotion!

  • Congrats Daysie!!

Update: I got the call today that we got moved back to a 5 day transfer on Saturday 10/13. Keep growing little embies!

QOTD:  What do you do for a living and if you had to choose another job what would it be??

I have worked as an RN on an oncology floor for 6 1/2 years and I LOVE my job. Recently we have lost a lot of our oncology patients to a new oncology clinic that moved down the street. I actually just got a new job at an outpatient chemotherapy infusion center. I can't wait to start because I really miss the connection with the oncology patients.  If I had to choose another job I would be a florist. I know it sounds crazy, but I LOVE flowers and think it would be a nice relaxing fun job.

Big WOOT and TOOT to Daysie!!!

THat sounds like a lot of fun, and I could see you opening  up your own place with all that experience!! FX for that trigger!

Update: I posted a BFP post...

I got everything, I mean EVERYTHING crossed for you Daysie! Congrats lovie <3

    Update:

YAAY for almost baseline time! It also sounds like a neat job!!!

Update:  In the dreaded 2ww.

I hope these next 6 days go by fast for you and your feelings are wrong. PS - Where in Africa do you teach? I went to Uganda back in 2008 to do some missions work. I loved every minute of it, But I can definitely imagine it's not easy being away from family and friends.

    Yay Daisye!

I should be able to move to the stimming list!  I had my baseline today and lining was thin and oves were quiet.  Just waiting on my e2 to come back.  Can't wait to get this show on the road!

QOTD:  I am a Lead Clinical Research Assoc.  I work in clinical trials.  I basically oversee everything and make sure the trial is staying on budget and getting done per timelines set.  If I could do anything else I would be a SAHW (and hopefully Mom soon)

    Good Luck!

  •  Super congrats to Daysie, everything crossed for the girls in 2ww ahhhhhh, AND FET. Lots of hugs to the waiting girls (I hate hurry up and wait) to those of us stimming, we gotta keep going, we can do this!!!<3

Update: Moving right along on day 4 of stimming with follistim. Tommorrow at 10am I go in for my monitoring appt, I am assuming based on all going well, that I will start the ganerlix (however you spell it) then. I am really starting to feel bloated at times, and tired. (not a lot of energy). Still doing injects myself, who would have ever thought. I just hope I can move on to next level. I feel like I am on American Idol/Xfactor or something, knowing you may have to stop at any time.

QOTD:  What do you do for a living and if you had to choose another job what would it be??

I am currently unemployed, as I just lost my job due to dissolving my position 3 weeks ago. Literally week before finding out we had to do IVF. I have done a variety of things, mostly office work, admin etc. Although I took a break this year due to IF testing, etc. I am seeking a degree in paralegal, and would one day like to be a family law/civil attorney.

I teach in Texas, but I do research in Kenya. I've been to Unganda before as well and it's really beautiful! My BFF does research in the forests of western Uganda with wild chimpanzees and it's such an awesome place to work. Being there is wonderful, but missing out on being home is definitely hard!

Thanks for the well wishes on the cycle. I guess it's just hard to stay positive after all the failures. I'm also facing the reality that we'll have a forced break until the New Year if this cycle doesn't work out because DH is going to Kenya in November and then our lab is closed over Christmas, so I can't even focus on the next step, which usually helps me not to push aside the doubts I'm feeling at the end of a cycle. I'm so happy to hear about your BFP! I hoping it's a good sign for all the Pumpkin Patchers to come!!

  • I started Lupron injections this morning. I was really nervous about the first one, but it went fine.

The only strange thing is that I got really itchy on my arms, back, and head afterwards for about 2 hours. I called my RE and they didn't seem concerned because I wasn't having trouble breathing and didn't have hives. Recommended benadryl and said to take Lupron again tomorrow morning. I haven't done anything different (soap, food, etc.), so I'm not really sure what was going on this morning! Hopefully a fluke.

I am a course coordinator at a Medical School. Basically, I do all of the behind the scenes work for 2 courses that Medical Students take - everything but teach the actual class.

If I wasn't a college administrator, I would probably be a Disney vacation planner. I'm seriously considering becoming one and trying to stay home if this all goes according to plan!

Super congrats to Daysie, everything crossed for the girls in 2ww ahhhhhh, AND FET.

Sorry for the unemployment status right before finding out you'd need IVF!! Sounds like you'll have a great career eventually though :)

I had an itchy reaction on the side of my stomach where I injected. The first time it lasted about three hours. The last three times it's only lasted 30-45 minutes. It's still a big blotchy red area for a while after that, but not itchy. Hope your body adjusts!!

  • I went in this morning for Day 8 monitoring. The nurse said my estrogen was perfect and my biggest follicle was at 14.9 and there are a few around 11 and a bunch between 7 and 10. I'm adding in Ganirelix tonight and doubling my already doubled dose of Menopur, to 150IU.

My next appointment is on Saturday, where I'll find out if I'm still going to trigger sometime that day and still have ER on Monday. Except for the initial migraine, stimming hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be!

QOTD: I really want to work with animals. So if I could do anything, I would either work in an animal shelter or maybe go back to school to be a veterinarian.

Good luck everyone! I'm rooting for all of you!

  • Super congrats to Daysie!

As for me, on day 4 of stims and am starting to be able to tell.  I just feel very heavy and have a hard little bloat going on.  Very hot.  My best prediction is that I will be doing ER next Wednesday or Thursday.  I should have a better idea after my appointment tomorrow morning.  But....so far, so good.

QOTD:  I'm an attorney.  I'm in-house counsel for a corporation so my job involves a lot of review and interpretation of contracts, as well as acting as a consultant on different jurisdictions/venues (i.e. "yeah, you really don't want to get sued in New Orleans"--for instance.)  I like my job because it's something different every day and never gets boring.  But my fantasy job?  Rock Star.  Completely.  Or a Broadway performer.  I'm pretty obsessed with Glee.

  • Congrats again, Daysie, and good luck to all stimming/triggering/ERing/ETing/2WW-ing!

I am still in the priming stage, on estrogen and provera.  Last Provera pill is Monday, so baseline and stims should be sometime next week.

QOTW:  I am a registered dietitian and work as a regulatory specialist for a large grocery store chain's private label.  I also work part-time as a clinical RD in a hospital.

I used to have several other things that I would like to do.  If you asked me last year, I probably would have said I'd like to run a bakery out of my home...but after 2 1/2  years of TTC, all I really want is to be a mom.  So, SAHM.  I never in a million years thought I would say I could do without working, but after going through this garbage, I just want to give birth to and raise some good people.  Seems challenging enough to me!

  • I am still stimming.  ER was pushed back two days, most likely will happen on Monday now rather then Saturday as originally planned.  Doctor was pleased with my hormone levels and how things were progressing.  During our first fresh IVF cycle I was two days behind the original "planned" ER date so this isn't anything new.  Plus it gives me an excuse to be off work on a Monday!  Another monitoring appointment tomorrow and the nurse said most likely triggering early this weekend.  Feeling nice and bloated.

QOTD: What do you do for a living and if you had to choose another job what would it be? I am a district staffing manager for Macy's and handle all the budgets and schedule programs for the Detroit district.  I actually really do enjoy working in retail, but if I could choose another job, I would do something with animals.  For awhile in college I was in the vet program and there are days I regret not following through with that program.

  • This is my first time posting in the Patch update - I guess I've always missed it in the past!

I'm in the 2ww for my first IVF, 6dpt5dt. We transferred one "fantastic" embryo and have 6 frozen. I stupidly took a home test today and thought I'd be fine whatever the results, just telling myself it's "too soon."  But it was negative, and I have NOT been fine. I am going to try my hardest to wait until my beta on Sunday (10/14) - I can't do today over again.

QOTD: I'm a psychologist in private practice. I love my job - I work with kids, adolescents, and college students/young adults.  I have my own practice, so my schedule is very flexible. I am usually in the office from noon until 7, but I can pick and choose days/times. It was hard to have to reschedule people a few times during stims and whatnot, but for the most part I was able to work appointments into my schedule.  If I did anything else, I'd probably do real estate or house flipping - I love houses!

Congratulations to Daysie - I'm jealous you already got your BFP!  And thanks to everyone for the support along the way.

I'm sorry about your BFN, ((hugs)) I know when I tested I thought I was being silly and just knew I shouldn't have. Honestly, I quiet nervous about it all. You can do! You can make it to Sunday! And I hope Sunday brings you good news!

ETA: Your job sounds exactly what I wanted to do when I went to school and got my BS in Professional Counseling. I always wanted to work in a PP specifically with children and adolescents (even more specific, those with eating disorders.) I just failed at continuing my education....

  • Thanks Daysie. Do you think there's still hope?

I love what I do, but it was a LONG road. I spent 4 years in undergrad, 5 years in graduate school (Master's and PhD), one year internship, one year post-doc, before I was finally in the "real world!"  If i did it over again, I'd probably just get a master's degree and LPC - a much shorter path (2-3 years).  But at least I can call myself Dr!
