How much red/brown discharge is normal? I had my 40 week doctor?s appointment on Tuesday and my midwife swept my membranes. She told me to expect some slight bleeding for the remainder of the day. All day Tuesday I had slight bleeding (brown?like a light period) and thick discharge which I assumed was part of my mucus plug. Yesterday morning after my husband and I had sex I had A LOT of red thick mucus which continued throughout the day?when I went to the bathroom I could see a lot of red filament particles and every time I wipe there is dark brown on the toilet paper and on my panty liner. I figured this was more mucus plug or my cervix dilating. Today, two days later I am still having brown and red discharge or blood on my panty liner every time I go to the bathroom.

What is this and is it normal?

Agreed with PP. I would call your doctor/midwife, just to be on the safe side.

You two are right I should call...I just always am affraid I am being a worry wart by calling, when something is totally normal.

Trust me, they get more than one "worry wart" phone call a day. If it were something silly, that'd be a different story, however, if there is blood involved (IMO) I would call.

Definitely give them a call, and like PP said, don't worry about coming off as a worry-wart. They don't mind. Smile
