my lo is 3weeks. he will not fall asleep on his own. i have to swaddle, rock, and use white noise to get him to sleep for any nap and at night. as soon as i put him down he wakes himself up. anyone else having this problem?
You shouldn't expect your baby to fall asleep on his own until he's 3 to 4 months old. Until then it's totally normal and fine to rock him to sleep or swaddle or whatever else you need to do. If he's waking up when you put him down, you may need to hold him longer until he's more deeply asleep. If you're putting him down with a pacifier and he wakes up when he drops it, try getting it out of his mouth before you lay him down.

Diagnosis: Baby! He's still getting used to the outside world.

This. LO is 11+ weeks and I still have to rock/nurse her to sleep for both naps and bedtime. The exception is when we are in the car or when she is in the baby carrier. In which case, she is basically being rocked anyway.
That's normal and in fact I still do all of that for my almost 6 month old, minus the swaddle. I would just be happy that it actually works. Around 4-6 months if you want to try a method of sleep training you can, but until then baby is normal.

Yea! Ours is 10 weeks and even if he's exhausted wont just fall asleep on his own unless we happen to be driving. Babies seem to fight sleep, who knows why. So we've always had to get him to sleep.
Our LO does this as well. She is 6 weeks and I found what works for us is once we lay her down to keep holding her arms down in the swaddle and keep with the rocking motion.
DD is doing the exact same thing. Some nights it takes her 2 hours of us putting picking her up, rocking, feeding, putting her down, for her to finally fall asleep. It'll pass, I promise!
I rocked/nursed my DD until she was a year (not ideal), but I plan on letting DS lead the show. It is such a small portion of their life that you get to snuggle them non stop that it doesn't bother me. Plus I don't know any 8,13,24,38 year old people that still need moms boob and rocking to fall asleep.

This, especially because he's so little. Babies need to be cuddled and rocked. They are used to being inside of you- of course he wants to be close.
