Today we got Evelyn's first birthday gift from a family member. I couldn't help but open it, with her help, which consisted of her staring at me like I was a crazy person for acting excited over a box. As soon as I saw that card with a giant number one on it, I cried. I can't believe my baby is turning one soon! So sad...

I feel the same way! Gator just started taking steps here and there and throwing fits like a 15 year old girl.....I miss when she just laid there making lamb noises as an infant. But SO isn't into the baby phase and can't wait until she is able to do more. So he is really looking forward to her being a little more "fun". I think it really hit me when she was holding her birthday invites and passed them out to a few people. When she gave one to her great grandpa who is 94 and they have a special bond, he said "are you having a birthday party? Can I come? Is that invite for me?" She acted all shy, gave him a little smile, then reached over and handed him the invite. He said "oh thank you! I can't wait to be there when you turn one" and she reached over and touched his hand. I totally got home and cried because I just LOVE my SO's grandpa and he always says "I have to play with her a lot because I won't be around to watch her grow up!" And her middle name is after his late wife, they have always been close. But seeing her pudgy hand reach over and give him the invite, she looked like a grown up baby.
