family friendly vacation spot close?

We are new to the area and would like to plan a weekend trip before baby #2 arrives. We would like to be near water...maybe the beach?
Someone mentioned Ocean Shores Westport to my husband. Any experience with this place or other recs would be greatly appreciated.

Ocean Shores also has a ton of hotels, we have stayed at several and haven't had any too bad. Usually great deals this time of year as well. https://www.tourismoceanshores.com/PageID/30/Type/2/default.aspx
These are all on my list or places we've stayed before, not sure what level of comfort/$ you're looking for.
We're thinking beach house...not hotel.
