Trying to Get Pregnant

Walgreens Basal Thermometer...

DON'T BUY IT!  I ended up returning it after 3 days (yes they took it back) because my temperature was always reading ridiculously low and would give me the same 4 or 5 readings throughout the day.  After researching reviews online, other people had the same problems as me!  I should have done some research BEFORE I bought it but since Walgreens is a pharmacy I didn't think much of it.

Anyways, I bought the Target brand and it is MUCH more accurate.  My temps are now screwed on my chart for the cycle but I'll keep taking them anyway.

  • I agree. Walgreens bbt is crap.

ETA: and to be honest, I have not heard great things about the target one either.

  • I second this! My Walgreens BBT went super sticky it's second month. It had two favorite pre O temps and two favorite post O temps. I could literally watch it stop for a second and then jump ahead to it's favorite temperature. Fortunately, it did make the switch and I was able to predict O but I nearly went crazy every morning getting the same temps. I bought a Mabis for this month and no problems yet.

  • I have the Walmart BBT. My first one seemed a little funny. After about 6mo parts of the numbers stopped showing. Just got a new one and it is working waay better. I'm guessing its a hit or miss things with all of them.

  • Same here. The mabis was a lot better but I did have an issue with it telling me the battery was dead and then working fine the next day.

  • Interesting. I have a Walgreens BBT. It favors certain temps as well. Since it is my first month charting I cannot tell if those are normal temps, or is the BBT. I read up on the reviews and was shocked how bad they are. I LOVE WALGREENS! So I was a little sad to see such terrible reviews. About a week ago I went and got a CVS BBT to chart my next cycle...If it will ever show Confused

I also have the cvs bbt and though I am new to temping, I have had no problems with it. I think the fact that it saves my last temp is really handy.

Yep, it is not great (Target). I had it for like 4 months and switched to the Mabis. Target favors temps quite a bit.

  • Target was the worst for me.  Walgreens was bad, too.  But not as bad as the Target one.  I like my Mabis one.

  • I just bought a Nexcare one off of Amazon.

It had 4/5 stars so I went for it.

    Anyone tried Nexcare brand?

Edit: Forgot to say it's digital. =)

I used the Walgreens BBT for months and found out that you need to clear out the previous temp before you take it again. That will fix the "favorite" temps. And it works just fine! :)

Hmmm...interesting.  I still have my Walgreens one, I think I'll try it next cycle and see if it works.

As for the "I still can tell I O'd" comment.  Yes, I could tell when I O'd, too.  I didn't switch out of necessity, I did it because it annoyed me.  Also, the Walgreens one beeped louder.

When I was waiting out the month with my sticky temps before I could switch, I would try that everyday, get a different temp and then same ole thing the next morning.

  • Hmmmm, I haven't been temping very long but I like my Walgreen's bbt just fine. I do get some repeat temps, but there is a decent amount of variation overall.

I originally bought the Wal-Mart bbt but returned it because the decimal only went to the nearest tenth instead of to the nearest hundreth.
