So my LO turned 3 months old yesterday. Thursd night she was fussy but would still nurse. Last night she wouldn't nurse but took the bottle. I got her to nurse at 2am and 6 am but she hasn't nursed since then. She drank 5 ounces from a bottle at one time which is way more than she normally does.
Is this a growth spurt? I tried taking the bottle out and putting her on my boob and she screamed bloody murder and moved her head away. I've been pumping so my supply doesn't go down. I've cried on and off all morning because I hate the fact that she'll take a bottle and not me. Unfortunately I had to go back to work when she was 7 weeks old so she needs to take a bottle.
Anyone else going through this, any tips or ideas? I'm thinking about calling the lactation consultant on Monday.
Re: LO refusing boob but taking bottle :(
Something similar happened to me. I was trying to boost my supply and then she started screaming/fussing and getting really gassy. I did some research and it turned out that I had created an oversupply. She was getting way too much foremilk, which can cause discomfort big time. I ended up pumping 1-2 oz before nursing, and doing block nursing for a few days until my supply evened out. And sometimes I have to hand express in case it comes out too fast- overactive let down.
Not sure if this will help but it might be a good starting point?
I have luckily had enough to give him just breastmilk but barely. He nornally wants 5 oz if it's from a bottle and I can usually do that between both sides. I am taking fenugreek to keep my supply up as well as watching my water intake. The hardest part is keeping him entertained while I find the time to pump but we're making it work. I do still try to nurse him first and if he isn't taking after a few minutes, like five, I give him the bottle freezer stash or someone else will while I pump.
