I feed DD at the breast, but pump regularly throughut the day to provide supplements and to store some milk. I do this at the recommendation of my LC.
I am still only getting about 2 oz per pump, or about 10 oz per day. I pump for 15-20 min after waiting 20-30 min after a feeding ends. My pump output seems low since I have been doing this for 6 weeks now. Anyone else have a similar routine?
Re: How many ounces do you pump if you also feed at the breast?
I would think that is a good amount considering you just got done feeding DD only 20-30 minutes before pumping. You could try waiting a hour after nursing to pump, you may build up more then. That is what I did.
So to answer your question, I would get about 3-5 oz each side if I waited a hour after nursing to pump.
Seems our LC's gave opposite advice. Mine told me to pump with a feeding or instead of a feeding, never in between. My DD is only a one side eater though, so that may be why.
I'm convinced that if you ask 5 LCs the same question, you'd get 5 different answers. I guess this all really is an art rather than a science!
8 to 10 ounces in the morning
6 to 8 ounces the rest of the day
It takes 10 to 15 minutes
