I thought he did a fantastic job! Can't wait for the next debate!
Umm have you hung around here much? I don't think we are your target audience with this post. Mitten's isn't most folks best buddy around here. He did well but frankly the President was just really flat so I want to see a debate when they are both on target and then compare.
cant the girl be entitled to her own opinion? there are PLENTY of other crazy reps on this board who want to say the same thing but dont b/c they get pounced on.
eta: i mean im not a fan, but he did do well. he just says dumb shiz.
I'll agree.
I thought mitt was good last night and I was honestly surprised.
Although maybe Obama just didn't do as well as I thought he would. Not that he was bad. But Barack normally captures me a little and he was a bit flat yesterday. IMO
Also, mitt could've looked so good because most rep candidates aren't great speaker, again IMO, and so a little goes a long way... Like there is a curve to be graded on
I know this isn't my target audience. I was just really happy he was able to state his plan without people/media twisting his words, putting words in his mouth etc. I ma so tired of hearing how rich he is.. like there has ever been a person elected president who made 40 k a year. Everyone says he is going to lower taxes for the rich, tax the poor, etc and he was able to explain his ideas and it made sense.
I don't think people give him a chance and are quick to say he hates gays, women, etc. He may not agree with legalizing gay marriage (I actually do) but that doesn't mean he hates people.
Can you find sound bites of him saying not so great sounding things I'm sure you can/ There's cameras on him all the time. But I think there may be some soundbites of Obama doing the same thing (57 states and you didn;t build that...)
I know everyone's mind won't be chaged by one debate, but I am hoping the undecided will take a closer look.
Did he state his plan? Or did he just say he wants to do a bunch of incompatible things?
We heard all about his plan, but we still don't know a thing about his plan.
Yep. I also liked when he was like "you can read all about my extensive plan on what will replace Obamacare" (you know, because it was too much to talk about). I went to his site to read this "extensive" plan and it was like 10 bullet points. Kthx.
but more importantly, what if they switched hair, tho?!
He doesn't have a plan. His plan is to point out what Obama has done wrong.
Exactly.
Most republicans I know personally only support him for this very reason. I would love to know what his appeal is besides the fact that he is not Obama.
That debate was lacking in so many ways. I'm hoping for more specifics in the next round.
Also posted on the Politics & Current Events board..
So please (beachgirl1977) list what Mitt has proposed.. I'm still very confused on his flip-flop!!
Just a few of President Obama Accomplishments:
Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act-Equal pay for women; Children's Health Insurance Program; 2009 Stimulus bill; Ordered kill of Somali Pirates; Eased restrictions on Cuba; Serve America Act; Fraud Enforcement Act; Federal funding of stem cell research; Credit Card Act; Matthew Shepard Act; Student Aid Act; Wall Street Reform Act; Rescue of the US automobile industry; Health insurance reform; Timetables for bringing our troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan; Extension of unemployment compensation; An end to discrimination against homosexuals in the military; Assisted in the overthrow of Gaddafi, at no loss of American life; Dismantled Al Qaeda to a shadow of its former self; Fair Sentencing Act; Small Business Jobs Act; Veterans' Benefit Act; 2010 Tax & Jobs Compromise; Food Safety Modernization Act; New START Treaty; US Forces Kill Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan; America Invents Act; War in Iraq ended with last American troops crossing border into Kuwait; Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Credit; First President to publicly support the legalization of same sex marriage; 12 straight quarters of GDP growth; 32 straight months of private sector job growth; Stock market (DJI) climbed from 8,279.63 1/9/2009 to 13,485.97 10/02/2012
Yes, Romney presented better, however, I feel the same way about all of his economic plans as a I do about the myth of trickle down economics - it sounds good in theory, but it does not work, and has been proven not to work. Sadly, people don't want to recognize that all of his proposals have been tried before and have not worked out well for the country.
I guess we deduct more than I thought. we were about 24k so we'd take a hit also. But if the tax rate were lower maybe it balances out. I see what he says about small business paying a lower rate, hiring more people and now those people are paying taxes which leads to more money

"Maybe it balances out" is not good enough for me. The CBO says Romney's plan won't "balance out" for the middle class. What more evidence do you need?
Also, two points about taxing small businesses: 1.) the definition of small business is key. 2.) Obama has cut taxes for small businesses.

Romney did a better job than I expected. He also did a fantastic job at dismantling the format of the debate. He didn't really clarify any of his plans, but he sure talked a lot about them, however that is possible.
I don't really think Pres. Obama was "flat", as much as reserved, letting Mitt talk as much as he wanted, because knowing Mitt, he was going to give them more "truthiness" to call him out on in the future. Though neither candidate was giving hard facts in all instances, the more Mitt was allowed to talk, the more it shined through that his plans don't really have any back bone.
I also think it was a huge mistake to even mention cuts to PBS. I mean, really? Couldn't he have thought of a more substantial cut to speak of, not something that was just going to further annoy the SAHM demographic?

If you don't have the burden to tell the truth and being factually right, you can easily appear confident to the low-information voters. Romney has no core and can lie without problem. And what is up with CNN saying 5 Trillions in tax cuts as false? There is no loop holes and deductions that will allow to make up for that much tax cuts. Keep in mind closing deductions are going to benefit wealthy more than the poor since almost 90% deductions are for meant for middle class or poor.
Kthx.

I think that honestly, that's the most awesome thing I've read so far about the debates.
The sound of his voice irritates me. He comes across as an arrogant, condescending, out of touch, rich dude whenever I hear him talk, but maybe that's just me.
I thought he did a fantastic job! Can't wait for the next debate!
Y'know what, like the opposing quarterback throwing for 450 yards against my team, I'll grant that Mitt put on a good performance last night, while Obama looked a little flat. Obama failed to hit hard on most of Mitt's blatant lies... was his strategy to simply let the fact-checkers gobble Mitt up? Or was Obama's strategy simply to play defense?
Both sides avoided any huge gaffes. Romney certainly "won" the debate, but we'll have to wait a few days to see if that translates to winning any of the few undecided voters still out there or not.

I thought he did a good job as well. Overall I thought it was a good debate,
Although I feel sometimes like all it is is a bunch of lying back and forth...

He did well. But winning a debate and being right are two different things. His platform has more holes than a block of swiss cheese.

Romney did a better job but said nothing. It was all fluff. I guess that makes him a fluffer. Santa jizz & egg nog...wait wrong thread.
AND
Barry and Mittens is hilarious!
You took 34,000 in deductions? How were you able to deduct that much?I need to go look at our taxes.
LOL I love this.

I am on your side as well. Forget about the people who are telling you that you can't post that here. Plenty of others agree

You can not, as a woman, support mitt romney.
He was very polished.
But I am still voting Obama.
