Naming twins non clicky poll

Re: Naming twins non clicky poll

  • I pick 2 names I like--and would stay away from rhyming names.  If I were to pop out twins tomorrow my names would be:

    Boy/boy:  Derek, Jason

    Boy/girl: Derek, Rachael

    Girl/girl:  Rachael, Leah

  • If I were having twins again, the very last thing I would be concerned with is what to name them.  I hate posts like this.  Everyone says they want twins, when what they mean is that they want the attention they get from having twins.

When we named our twins, we picked the names that we loved that started with a vowel to go along with thier older sister.  We have an Isla Eden and Olivia.  W waited until we found out what we were having to give them names.

  • I know its not the common opinion on this board, but I like twin names that are not so much rhyming, but sound similar. (Same amount of syllables/starts with the same letter). My twin brother and I are April and Allen...so maybe I have a biased opinion. :)

  • I'm a teacher and have several sets of twins. The most refreshing combo was Gerard and Nico for boys and Jamie and Kristy for girls. It is SO nice to hear non-matchy names. Otherwise, I've taught the following combos:

    Dylan - Dustin

    Karen - Kelly

    Renee - Sade (they rhyme!)

It is really difficult to keep twins straight to begin with. Then, naming them similar names just makes it more difficult to keep straight.

If I had twins right now:

Riccardo & Melania (we find out in a few weeks if we are having a boy or girl and one of these names will be used)

    Riccardo & Enzo

Melania & Bianca, Melania & Gia (I know they all end in -a, but most of the girl names I like do, so it's hard!!)

Twins would not impact my naming decision in that I don't want any of my children's names to rhyme or start/end with the same letter. I want the entire sibset's style to be compatible and I want all of the FNs to be a saint's name, so it is a little theme-y.

I don't mind subtle themes like both names having a twined letter, or both having a nature MN, or something like that.

    George Bruns & Nathaniel Sykes

    George Bruns & Margaret Victoria

Margaret Eleanor & Teresa Victoria (Maggie & Tessa)

    LOVE your girl names.

Aw, thanks! It has taken us a very long time to come to a consensus on the girl names if we have more than one.

I really like yours too. Miriam is so pretty and underused. :)

  • I would pick names that I like, but probably try to avoid names that rhymed or were matchy.  I don't have a problem with the same first initial if I chose the names because I liked them separately, but I wouldn't do same first and middle initial.  That's just too much.

Boy/Boy:  Austin Reed and Hudson Anthony

Umm... Yeah, you do realize this is the Baby Name Board?

  • No theme. I'd just give them names DH and I love. (DH tends to love nature names and I like family names so that may be an unintentional theme)

Boys: John Henry and Isaac Fisher

Girls: Roslyn Marie and Vella Rose

  • considering i am a nonidentical twin while writing this post i cant remember which phrase is used. my sister and i looked polar opposites when we were toddlers so im glad we didnt have matching names Laura Jane and Charlotte Anne, there is a likelihood of twins being born by my older sister or myself but i doubt i would be doubly blessed like that.
i dont think at all about people thinking about wanting the attention, this post is just a bit of fun and curiosity of others views and ideas.
    g/g Alice and Oona
    b/b Sebastien and Isaac/Felix
b/g Sebastien and Alice/ Oona and Isaac / Alice and Isaac

I already have a son by the name of Brennan so i try to keep his name in mind when thinking of names for future use and my parents and sisters have matching first initials which doesnt do it for me.
  • We are having triplets (2b, 1g).

We are picking "M" names b/c both dh and I are M names. We also are going ethnic, Italian. For middle names we are honoring family members.

In a perfect world (without my DH's input) I would name twins the following:

b/b - Marc Antonio and Matteo Peter

b/g - Matteo Peter and Mirabella Regina

g/g - Mirabella Regina and Mona Elizabeth

Hypothetically, if you were having twins, would the fact that they were twins affect you naming them? Or would you just pick two names that you liked? Would if they were identical or fraternal affect this? Specifically, would you pick:

speaking as one with a twin sister:

    Rhyming names? Never

Same initials? Not unless the names were pretty different in every other way and I loved both names so much, I couldn't bear to let one go.

Themed names? Only if the themes are very, very subtle.

Same lengthish names? No, not unless our LN clearly sounds better with a certain length.

I am just curious! Bonus: if you popped out twins tomorrow, what would you name them? Boy/boy, boy/girl, girl/girl.

    our names: Elizabeth and Sarah

if I had twins... hmmm... if boys, we would have named them Nathaniel and Patrick, our top 2 boy names.
