VBAC

Statistics on VBAC?

Does anyone know the percentages on VBAC success for women who try?  I'm looking for some resources just so I can explore all my options.  I'm not sold on a VBAC but I had an unplanned C-section last time and I think all the pitocin in my system might have made BFing harder (plus my exhaustion after 36 hours of labor).  I want to do everything that's best for the baby and I feel like I need more information.  I had a 9+pounder with baby #1 and he got stuck, no distress, but I think we was big at least partly to my GD.

Any help or advice would be awesome.

Re: Statistics on VBAC?

  • Avg VBAC success rates are around 75 and you will usually see success rates from 6090 depending on the study and other factors reason for primary c/s, gestational age, whether the mom is induced, etc.

  • My hospital's VBAC success rate is 80 percent so the 70 to 90 stat sounds spot on.
