  I have a short last name and DDs name is Danica. We also liked Savannah while pregnant with her.
  
  Now I like Carys, Ivy, Iris, and Maren.
  
  Also good with Fife: Noelle, Lydia, Delaney, Gretchen, Annabelle, Clara, Lucinda, Juliana, Norah, Vivian
  
  ETA: I only put girl names. For boys: Rowan, Milo, Archer, Simon, Oliver, Nolan, Isaac, Henry, August

  Try something three syllables or more, for a girl Camilla maybe and for a boy something like Alexander.  Neither of those names can be shortened to less than two syllables.

   Fife is a great last name, you'll have tons of choices.

  I think you're over thinking this.

  My maiden name was 4 letters, 1 syllable.  (Think Grey)

  My aunt's name is 3 syllables (Like Marilyn Grey)

  My father and mother both had 1 syllable names (Like Bob Grey and Joan Grey)

   My brother's name and my name are 2 syllables (Like Aaron Grey and Karen Grey)

   

  Your name pretty much will work with any name out there.  Although, my personal preference would be to stear clear of F names, since Frank Fife sounds like a comic book character.
