Ds has a red butt hole and screams when we wipe and when he poops. We've been using desitin after every diaper change but its not helping. What do i do or try next?
Oatmeal bath with baking soda. Let him run around without a diaper. Colloidal silver to heal it.
Is he teething? DS got all four of his canines a couple weeks ago, but for a month he was teething and had a diaper rash that was pretty awful. Most times when he pooped I just cleaned up what I could and stuck him in the tub to clean the rest cause it hurt him so bad
Also rinse out the wipes to get all the soap and perfume stuff out. Even if they say no they are sensitive, you would not believe all the suds that come out. I did a bunch at a time then put them back in the container. Any time he is in a diaper protect his bottom with something.
Yes he is teething. He's getting a top molar. He hasn't had this happen before with teething but I guess it could be related. He's also had a cold with a runny nose for a week or so. Daycare said they've been changing him super frequently to try to help. Will any oatmeal do for a bath, like could we take one of the quaker instant packs of original flavor and put it in? How do you do an oatmeal bath? Where do I find this silver cream you speak of? tia

I'll ask my mom where she got the silver. I read that you should use regular oats from the container, not the instant
I had a sample of butt paste that I tried tonight and will use again in the am and send along to daycare. I have aquaphor too, but is there different kinds that I should use a specific one? The one I have says for irritated skin and lips. How long should I try one cream before I decide it's not working and I should move on to another? I think I'm going to call the doc tomorrow too, is that over reacting?
Funny you posted this. I literally just gave Bay a oatmeal bath tonight. She was fried, poor baby. I will let you know if it works. This is the first time I have tried it....
Aveeno makes oatmeal packets for baths. I've used them whenever DD has had diaper rash and it
helped a lot. It also helps if you use a cotton ball dipped in water in place of wipes for
diaper changes.

Em just went through hell with a horrible diaper rash that was all opened and wouldn't go away. First, the doctor had us put her in the tub when she pooped and not wipe her at all and when she peed, no wiping. They had us use A&D, when the A&D didn't seem to be doing the job, they had us use Caldesene Powder, and then we tried Aquaphor which ended up helping. We put her in a tub for weeks every time she pooped. It was rough, but it helped. At DC, they couldn't put her in the tub, so they rinsed out the wipes and used them with just water. Good Luck!!!!!!

Doc office said to soak in baking soda bath 3x per day for 10 min. Try using cream for yeast infection and using wet paper towel or something instead of wipes. Also let him be naked as much as possible. Couch got peed all over tonight. Not sure how to pull off the naked time.

Yeah, naked time can be kind of challenging.. it was for us this past time because he had diarrhea so I didn't want poop all over my furniture and floor Try to do it as much as possible though, because it really does help. Maybe keep him off of the furniture? DS doesn't really go up on the couch/recliner unless I'm sitting there.
I probably wouldn't use paper towels, because they aren't soft. I would get something else. The cheap cloth diapers would be great, those are soft. You can buy them at Walmart.
Okay he seems to be getting better but he won't poop. He grunts like he wants to but doesn't. He also won't let us get a good look at his butt hole to know if its totally better. He does this thing where he stiffens himself up legs straight. So how can I make him poop?
Bought some ad ointment and colloidal oatmeal tonight. Hopefully this does the trick. How many applications of the ointment should I expect it to take before I see results?

I agree with this. We use butt paste and it works great, and I've heard good things about the other 2 also. Desitin doesn't work well IMO

I agree with trying the Aveeno oatmeal packs. We also use just A&D or aquaphor, those seem to help.
Avoid wipes. I use the cheapie cloth diapers dipped in water. Dry the bottom well(again, I use the cheap cloth diapers), lather on the Aquaphor.
That's our tried and true method!

I hope he's feeling better soon!
We use corn starch (and also some nakey time) any time he starts to get a little red and it clears it right up.
