2nd Trimester

Any one else having a hard time feeling the baby Kick?

I don't seem to feel the baby kick unless I sit down and am not doing anything else, almost like I have to focus. I feel a heart beat poking feeling, every so often when laying in bed or when I sit down to rest at work. I am 20 weeks, so I know I should be feeling my LO. I guess I am worried that I am the only one, and there might be something wrong. But J/W if any one was feeling the same things to ease my worried mind :)!  Thanks Ya'll

Re: Any one else having a hard time feeling the baby Kick?

  • I'm almost 19 weeks and not feeling much. Don't worry -- your LO is still very small at this point! You will start feeling a lot more movement soon. :)

  • I was 19 weeks, 5 days with DS. It will probably happen very soon!

    ETA: oops meant 6 days.

  • I'm glad you posted this! I'm also 20 weeks and going through the same sorta worry! So you are not alone. But as the others have said its normal, though I do understand its still hard not worry :)

  • I think that's normal. I didn't feel DD1 kick until around 20 weeks. I think it's easy not to notice when you're busy since the baby is so small. Once baby gets bigger, you'll be distracted by kicking (and rolling and flipping) all the time.

  • I have twins and haven't felt them yet ;( I wonder when I will.

  • I only starting feeling her kicks around 22.5 weeks.  Before that, I'd feel things but I couldn't differentiate between gas bubbles and baby movement.  It will happen soon and then you'll be wishing you weren't being punched in the cervix every 5 minutes =)

  • I wasn't feeling much until 21 or 22 weeks.  And it still isn't consistent.  Also, do you know if you have an anterior placenta? That can effect feeling movement too.  I wouldn't worry if you're not feeling a lot at 20 weeks.
  • I have anterior placenta and barely feel my baby girl at all.  I'm lucky if I feel one kick a day ....  :(

  • 20 weeks is still pretty early, so what you're feeling is normal. And if you have an anterior placenta (they can tell during your ultrasound), it could be even longer before you feel things regularly. It's so hard not to worry!

  • You probably won't feel actual movement until 22-24 weeks, and you won't feel regular movement until 28ish weeks. All are perfectly normal.

  • At 20 weeks I was barely feeling any movement at all.  I didn't feel distinct kicks until a few weeks later and even know she has lazy days.

  • You are still really early, especially for a FTM. Most FTM start feeling the baby more after 20 weeks. I didn't feel movement everyday until about 23-24 weeks.

That being said, you shouldn't even worry about feeling "consistent" movement before 28 weeks or so.

  • I just brought this up to my OB and she assured me that it is nothing to worry about.  According to her, it will probably be another two weeks or so before I feel regular movement.

  • I am 25 w 2d with my second pregnancy and just went to get monitored at L&D today.  I have been feeling LO since 19 weeks but in the last 72 hours have had decreased movement. I talked with my OB and he said that if your feeling anything at all that is a good sign this early.  I kinda got freaked out because I didnt have 10 kicks in 2 hours like they say you should have so I went in.  I had a huge glass of ice cold sweet tea before I went there.  Of course everything was ok with baby.  The in house OB was even surprised that they were able to monitor at 25 weeks as well as they did.  If you are really worried and just cant stop thinking about it just go in.  Better safe than sorry.  Most likely your LO is perfectly healthy.  My just be fatigued.  They also have a tiresome job laying down all the bone and muscle tissue at this stage.  Hope I was some help.....

  • I am 26 weeks and for the past week the kicks and movement have been somewhat consistent. Btw, this is my first! I really didn't start feeling kicks until around 23 weeks.  I think for FTM you don't feel kicks until a little later but everyone is different.

  • Im 19 and some change.  I havn't felt anything yet.  But this isnt uncommon.  It can take some moms to not feel anything up to 22 weeks.  Dont worry about it. There are just so many factors in feeling baby.  Where is the placenta, where is the baby laying at and how big is baby?

  • I'm over 21 weeks and don't feel many kicks because of my anterior placenta but at our a/s he was definitely moving!! This is my second and I felt tons at this point with DS1 so this is all new to me. It's still a little early to feel anything consistant.

  • I haven't been feeling much at all. I am trying not to worry about it, because I know anytime soon the baby will be kicking and it will be non-stop. I am just trying to enjoy being pregnant and not stress too much. Every woman carries differently and experience things at different times. Enjoy and good luck!

  • I'm 18w5d and I feel just little bubbles and some waves....not every day but 3-4x a week usually around 2-3pm in the afternoon at work I'll start feeling the same sensation....this has been happening for the past week in a half so I'm figuring it's LO and thats just when she's deciding to move around

  • I'm 25wks1d & I don't feel movement everyday. Or at least I don't think that I do. I went in the past 2wks because I had dizzy spells that worried me. I didn't think that I was feeling the flutters/fetal movement that I normally had. I understand how you feel. It was nice to go in and hear the heart tones. It's hard not to worry. Very understandable. I'm already ancy for my next apt this coming Tues.
