Adoption

For those who went through IF...

Do you still take PG tests? My cycle is super irregular, so it isn't like I have a missed period to hint at anything, so I find myself taking tests every couple of months for various reasons. Like this time, I took one before I took the heavy-duty cold medicine I needed just to be safe.

As far as I am concerned, we are growing our family only through adoption. Period. So it isn't like I am holding out a secret hope, but I wanted to see what other ladies do.

Re: For those who went through IF...

  • I normally have very regular cycles (we have MFI), but every once in a while I'm tempted to test when AF doesn't show exactly when I think she should.  I've been having a lot of issues with mid-cycle spotting/bleeding since February, so I'm actually contemplating getting back on BCP, since that's the only solution my OB/GYN offered when I brought it up at my yearly appointment in June.

At this point I am convinced that God plans to bring us our first through adoption, so I don't know why I keep hoping that I'll magically become pregnant, but I guess it's because that desire to experience that part of life hasn't gone away, even though I'm content with the plan we have right now.

  • Yeah, I do.  I also still know exactly where I am in my cycle at any given moment, although that's getting a little less obsessive each month.

  • As soon as we made the decision to stop IF treatments and go 100% into adoption, I immediately made an appointment with my Gyn to go back on BC. I didn't want to have to even think about having to take anymore pregnancy tests and I was very afraid that even through three years of no naturally occuring pregnancies I would miraculously end up pregnant right after we were matched and wouldn't be able to pursue the adoption!

  • I don't get periods on my own. My dr refuses to prescribe provera without a beta so I get one every 3 or so months. I have no hope of getting pregnant but I just know its not super healthy to not get a period and birth control makes me a crazy lady so I refuse to go back on it.

Funny, I am about a week late today and thinking I don't really want to take the test because my bigger concern is that if I am pregnant it will end in another M/C.  I haven't made it past 9 weeks yet, so no reason to think if I am PG that this would end any differently than the others.

  • No. I am absolutely convinced that I will never be pregnant, and I'm OK with it. I am pretty regular, though, so I haven't had too much chance to wonder about it. I probably would test if I was ever really late, but this hardly ever happens.
  • If my cycles gp long I do
  • No I don't. But I also am on BCP because of my endo. I wish I wouldn't have to be though, I've put on 12lb since they put me on it last year. :( I also get migranes during the week when I'm not taking any. So they made me have my period only every 3 months, but since then the weight has just gone up, up, up.

If I wasn't on BCP I might, but we have IF on both sides, so I probably wouldn't worry about it.
