With just a few days to go until my due date, and going on like 3 weeks of prodromal labor, I have started staying "ready" to go in the sense of: I have been keeping my legs shaved every few days, washing and straightening my hair every two days, and doing my toe nails every few days. I figure, it's not hurting anyone, and it's keeping me busy and giving me something to look forward to every couple of days, even if it's just a new nail color on my feet, lol.
So, be honest...any vain Oct. mamas to be out there? Or have you given up completely?
Re: Be honest...Who is staying "ready"?
Oh I forgot to add that I had my monthly Brazilian wax a few days ago...but that's more for my comfort postpartum than anything else!
YOU CAN PAINT YOUR OWN TOES?!?
I have a girls' date with my friend to go get pedicures before the baby comes because I can't reach my d@mn toes and DH won't do it for me. I also second Rachel, I'm a little embarrassed about downstairs, DH said he would help with that though, but everything else is ready to go! I'm pretty sure I'm more worried about what my hair is going to look like. There's going to be too many pictures taken, I think my hair will be top priority!
I made rachelmichelle1 my bitch.
Don't mind my fur baby lol
I am not overly worried about it but yeah I am trying to stay ready. Okay to be honest and this might sound bad but I want to look semi decent in the photos after the baby is here. No i won't "fluff and puff" after for them just hoping I don't look like a crazy lady.
On a side note: Did anyone else notice how put together Jillybean looks in her photo she posted earlier?
Agree! How do you reach your toes? I get a mani/pedi every two weeks, going for my monthly Brazilian Wednesday (TMI, sorry) and am getting my hair cut and colored this Friday. Aside from that, I do blow it out every two days, and I'm still shaving my legs as often as I can - every few days. Typing that all out, I DO feel vain, ha!
Yes! I was thinking "D@mn! I wish I'll look that good when I deliver!"

Haha I love this. Like others, I cannot reach my toes. I am getting a Brazilian sometime at the end of this week since I haven't seen my undercarriage in months. It's getting rather scary down there. Even using a mirror and a set of trimmers, I can't manage very well. I'm only getting waxed in case I have a c-section - I don't want to deal with little hairs growing in the incision.
I shave about once a week, but it occurred to me this morning that if I went into labor early it would be nice to have smooth(er) legs. I really want a pedi but that will probably wait until next week.
I've taken to straightening my hair almost every time I wash it, and I have a spare flat iron packed in my hospital bag. I know I won't look stunning while in the hospital, but I don't want to be a hot mess either.
Damn I am impressed! And jealous
Me too! I don't have the patience or the energy for that anymore!
I've had the same limited hair growth on my legs and face. It's so weird. I have not shaved my legs for a few weeks and they look and feel like I shaved yesterday!
However, even if I did not have this oddity I would not worry about staying perfect for the hospital. As a nurse, I can say we don't care whether or not you've shaved your legs.
Thank you ladies
I think it's a combo of needing to stay busy (been
off work since 34 weeks) and wanting to keep myself looking and
therefore feeling good.
you are my hero!
I got my monthly wax last Friday and will probably go for a cleanup in 2 weeks, mainly for cleaning reasons for recovery later!
oh, and I will start doing my hair every other day now... So far I just wash it every day!

I'm keeping ready. No way am I going in there with unshaven legs or a bush. The amount of people that are going to be up in my business can at least have a clearer view of what's going on! My legs, I've never stopped shaving, I can't have hairy legs. It grosses me out.
I'm going to be one of those women who is going to take a shower and shave before I leave. My hair can dry naturally and actually look decent so at least that's one less thing to worry about!
I voted SS. I've been a little more slack with my hair. For a while I was washing and straightening it every other day, but lately, I've been wearing it curly occasionally. I think I'll probably shower before I head to L&D this time (I didn't when I had DS).
I've been shaving like 1/week for my doctor's appointment, but that's it. I figure they've seen worse and my legs aren't that terrible if I skip a few days.
I will shower before heading the hospital, though, and shave my pits. I'm gonna get a pedi this week, but mostly because I like them. I'm more concerned about my hair on my head not looking nappy, so I'm gonna make an appointment to get some micro-twists done closer to my due date so I can take them down after baby is born and have nice wavy curls for pictures.
I've had a c/s scheduled for tomorrow for 15 weeks, and I took no precautions for going into labor ahead of time, LOL. That said, I shaved my legs (and my girlie bits, as best I could0 this morning in the bath, got my eyebrows waxed today after I did my pre-admit paperwork & pre-op bloodwork at the hospital, and just showered and washed/dried my hair. So I'm half-vain, LOL.
I didn't do any of this with DS, either - also a scheduled c/s.
