I was told DD had a minor allergy to dairy when at 6 months she got hives from cow's milk formula. We avoided dairy until Nov. She has had yogurt 4 times before tonight but...
It is hard to say but tonight we gave her yogurt (this was the fifth time she has had it) and in the corner of her mouth she got a red mark and what appeared to be a hive. It was small but you know it still freak me out. After a little back and forth with my husband as I went to get the Benadryl (he didn't think it was a hive). I gave it to her. It went away after about 20 minutes. During that time we stripped her for a bath and saw no real sign of anything anywhere else.
I am still wondering what it was though. I didn't want to chance it so she got the bendaryl. The only reason I am doubting the whole thing is because Monday I gave her squash for the first time in a long time (since we introduced it at around 6 months and she hated it) and I used a bigger infant spoon than I normally do. She has used it before but was shoving it is her mouth, chewing etc. After a couple bites she had some redness in the corner of her mouth. I thought it was odd, squash? I decided she doesn't need squash, doesn't like it, I won't give it to her for awhile. Well it was the same spoon I used tonight. Could it be the spoon? It is made out of the same stuff her other spoon is.
So the whole thing has me baffled. When I went to the dr. for her year appt., he downplayed the allergy and said it was more likely a sensitivity. He still said that if she was allergic she would have reacted to my breastmilk. He didn't see any problem introducing cheese, cottage cheese, ice cream, etc. and then if she continued to do fine, milk.
I guess I call the dr. and go from there. My husband thinks I am over reacting that it was one red spot.
I just wish I knew what was going on.
