  I have found a few cute dresses on amazon.com.  I think I searched for first birthday dress.  They look like comfy dresses and are not very expensive or overly dressy.

  Those are so cute!

  My daughter wore a long, flowy, pink and purple plaid summer dress with tie-straps from Baby Gap for her birthday party.  Not birthday-themed at all, but a really pretty dress, and definitely more "special" than her usual carters cotton dresses, but without being a "special occasion" dress.  Her party was just a cookout with our close family at our house, so a fancy party dress would've looked weird, IMO.

  This! DD is wearing this dress for her birthday party tomorrow! It really is adorable when you see it in person and it's cotton so I think it'll be nice and comfortable for her.
