Really? You are an idiot! (Long Vent)

So my Fiance's dad is the king of sending passive aggressive emails.  This morning he watched Noah for about an hour while i was working and my Fiance had an appointment.

When he got home he sent us an email telling us that we should consider feeding Noah more often because he is concerned he is not eating enough. His reasoning for thinking this? "He puts everything in his mouth and chews on everything" uhhh duh! he is a 5 month old and he is teething of course he chews on everything!!!  The part that bugged me the most was when he said "You are his parents and part of that is making sure that all of his needs are met and it is concerning that it is apparent that that is not happening" His needs are met! he is a chubby, healthy, happy boy in a safe, clean home with plenty of toys, clothes etc.

This is ridiculous! let me clarify, my son is over 22 lbs and is in 9-12 month clothes, he eats about 38 oz of formula in 24 hours and he also gets oatmeal mixed with a puree once a day.....he is not starving!!!!!

There is no point to this really, I just needed to vent.

  • Uhhh... seriously, he's an idiot.  He's not around babies much, eh?

  • Well he's got nerve..and he is also a MAN..they never really pay attention to milestones and such anyways.  I'd take it in one ear and out the other. You're awesome parents!

  • That would seriously make me crazy! Not only ignorant, but incredibly rude.

  • He's an asshat and Rude! Rude! Rude! He actually talks to you like that?

I assume your pedi is very happy with his weight gain and growth. You should ask your future FIL when he got his medical degree.

  • Wow, just wow!

  • My fiance was angry but I sent his dad an email back telling him that Noah was eating just fine and too much more would actually be over feeding him. I also sent him a link the AAP website so he could see how much Noah should be eating and I also gave him the number of our pedi and told him to feel free to call the doctor if he is still concerned.

Unfortunately he is always like this, but my fiance's mom is awesome so it ALMOST makes up for it.

  • Clearly your kid is doing great... I totally concur with the in-one-ear-out-the-other suggestion.

Speaking of your cutie-pie, I just wanted to say how adorable I thought his football picture was! Alas, I'm a total slacker and missed the vote, but your photo was awesome...

  • Wow, that is so incredibly rude and un-necessary.  I would tell him that he should butt out of it because your child is thriving.  wow, that would not sit well with me at all, claws would be coming out.

Aww thanks! He has a whole Steelers sweat suit but he was against pants that day...which is ok because then you can see his chunky thighs!

  • That makes me mad for you! How rude! It's none of his business what you do for your child. I think comments like that drive me nuts because my DH's step-dad is like that. When I was 5 months preggo, he asked me if I was going to breastfeed and started giving me all of this advice. Umm, has he ever put a baby to his breast? No! So, he doesn't get any input. Last week when he and my MIL started giving me ridiculous advice, I said it was a good thing I didn't read all those parenting books because DH and I decided to follow our instincts and what we say goes. Shes our kid and we do things our way. The end. He shut up after that.

  • I would keep an "eye" on your FIL when he watches LO from now on.   MIL started in with these comments and we brushed them off and told her everything was fine and the last time she watched him DS ended up eating 24 oz in a 3 hour period.

    She isn't watching him anymore.

  • Haha, he MUST be starving how dare you! lol, he must not be around babies much, I would worry leaving your LO in his care. In an email...srsly?!
