Upper lip tie?

DD has what looks to be a class IV upper lip tie (going in on Monday to have it looked at) which is causing her lip to not flange correctly so she "clicks" and looses suction while nursing. Anyone have this corrected surgically (did it help??) or know of a way to keep her seal to avoid getting it cut?

Re: Upper lip tie?

  • My DS just had the procedure last week for both an upper lip tie and a tongue tie. It was very quick and his mouth is already healed. I noticed a huge difference with his upper lip immediately after the procedure as i put him to the breast 5 minutes after the procedure it was done with a laser.

  • Get it done now!  I didn't know my DD was lip tied until she was much older, and I believe it 100% affected her BFing.  I wish I had a better LC who checked for stuff like that (small town=no options).  We finally got it clipped after she was a year old, because it was causing a major gap in her teeth, and can lead to some speech problems.  At that age, DD had to be put to sleep to get it done : (
