So i went in for a routine checkup today and ended up leaving stressed and pi$$ed. They gave me my glucose test at 24 weeks, i passed. Then when i went in today they said "ready to take your glucose test?" I said no i already took it and passed. They say "oh well you took it early so they need you to take it again". First of all I didnt fast and had just eaten breakfast because they told me it was a routine appointment. Second of all, what the heck, not my fault you guys cant figure out whats early and whats the right time. Plus they said if i fail i have to come back for the 3 hour test, thanks for setting me up to fail. I told them i'm probably going to fail because i ate, had coffee and basically had no idea this was even going to happen today. I was so angry and had no problem expressing this to my doctor. My doctor completely brushed it off and really didnt seem to care that I was upset.
The icing on the cake was the simplest question i asked her. She had JUST checked the babies Heartbeat and sat down. I asked her what his heart rate was and she said "ugh, you wanted me to count? I don't know I didn't count it sounded good to me". HER EXACT WORDS. Thanks for not even trying to care enough to pay attention to my baby and give me an attitude about it. Don't they have to document visit what the baby's heart rate was? It's a clinic so every time I go in there it's a different doctor. I have never felt like me or my baby mattered less, this was disgraceful. Sadly I could go on even more because there are even more ridiculous things but i'll stop here. It was a horrible day
Re: Doctor's office rant (long)
Sorry you had a bad experience, but you actually don't have to and aren't supposed to fast before the 1 hour glucose test... You only need to fast for the 3 hour test. Your results should be accurate.
I hope the next appointment goes better!
thanks, yea unforunately thats not my first appointment i've had that went bad. There was a lot more to yesterday's bad appointment too.
She explained the not having too fast thing but in an incredibly rude way and at the very end of my appointment . I had other concerns addressed there before and they laughed them off even though they were pain related. yesterday was the icing on the cake of my experiences with them. Ive heard even more horrible stories from close friends about there since.
I'm finding a new doctor today.
