Ok, so I may be in the minority, but I actually enjoy the taste of prune juice. Maybe because I used to drink it as a kid when I was constipated. But, I agree, if you dont like it, mix it with apple juice and it will taste better.
It tastes like drinking raisins! It's not awful, but it's not a sipping drink either. i usually try to do it in one large chug if i can (kind of like my metamucil routine). It does seem to help along with metamucil. However if you're backed up be warned that it may cause lots of potent gas. i had to apologize to my husband a dozen times the other night when i took a dose.
I was wary, but found that chilling it before I drank the first cup helped. It's like pp said, it tastes like drinking raisins. A little sweet, but a little thicker than normal juice. I couldn't chug it, but I didn't think it was gag-worthy. Really helped the week I was super constipated. I drank 8oz per day for about 3 days straight and then got some relief. So don't expect immediate results. Ditto the warning on the gas though!
I heat it up in the microwave and drink it like tea. I can't handle it cold, and prunes make me gag (so do raisins). It isn't my favorite thing to drink, but it is super effective.
Re: Prune juice question.
Gerber makes a prune/apple juice that I give my son when necessary. Maybe try that?
