Dizzy after eating?

About 1520 minutes ago we had dinner, and ever since I finished eating I've felt dizzy. I've been laying down since it started and I know I'm hydrated since I drink water all day. Any ideas? I'm not dizzy enough to be concerned about getting sick or blacking out, but it's definitely noticeable even not moving.

Re: Dizzy after eating?

  • What did you eat? Is it possible you have spiked your blood sugars high?

  • I had a bowl of homemade chicken vegetable soup. My first thought was blood sugar, but I've never had an issue with it before, and soup just doesn't seem like a meal that would spike it.

  • What about sodium?  I have never had it happen, but I wonder if too much sodium could cause a problem?

I was wondering this as well. Also, did the broth you use contain MSG (mono sodium glutamate)? I have a sensitivity to MSG and it makes me slightly dizzy, queesy if I eat things that contain higher amounts. Has your blood pressure been ok as well? Low or high can cause dizziness too.

My OB has never said anything about my bp, so I assume it's fine. Maybe it was sodium. I added a few boullion cubes to the broth, I'll have to check the sodium and MSG when I get up. I've never had a problem with it before but who knows, pregnancy does weird things to us! I'm also coming down with a wicked cold thank you, SD! so maybe that played into it too.

At any rate, after an hour or so of drinking water, laying down, and taking a warm bath, it went away.
