Massage for a pregnant woman?

DH and I thinking of getting massages - what's the deal with massages for pregnant women?

  • Make sure you go somewhere there is someone who actually knows how to give a true prenatal massage!

  • They are heaven!

The massage place required me to get a note from my OB saying it was okay for me to have a prenatal massage.

  • Heavenly!  Just tell the place you're going to that you need a prenatal.  I always ask for the pregnancy pillow.  It's a special pillow with holes for your boobs and belly so you can lie face down and get a "regular" massage.  Those are THE BEST!!

    Enjoy!

  • I got a prenatal massage.  The only difference I could notice was that they had a special pillow for me to lay on that had cut outs for my breasts and belly.  besides that it was the same heavenlyness of a normal massage.

  • We are going to Hawaii next month for our babymoon and want to splurge on massages while we are there. I found this place https://www.honolulu-massage-therapist.com/index.html, which offers prenatal massages. I'm going to call my ob's office this afternoon and see what they say because it looks like I'll need a doctor's note.

  • I just had my first massage ever last week. I asked for the maternity massage and it was amazing. Since I was only 19 weeks and didn't have a very big bump, I was able to lay on my back and belly just fine. She indicated that if I'd been farther along, things would've been different. I highly recommend getting one!

  • I love any massage but my MIL set up my first prenatal one through the spa at the resort we all stayed at a few weeks ago. OMG heaven!!! DH and I actually did a joint massage so we were both in the same room. The therapist was a guy which really surprised me but honestly it was the best massage I ever had. I just wish we didn't live 100+ miles away or I would go again in a heart beat.

  • I went to a massage therapist when I was around 17 weeks. She told me that as long as I'm past my 1st trimester and would be comfortable laying on the table then it's fine to get a full body massage. She gave me the pillow with a hollow middle which was comfy. Enjoy every minute!!!
