I totally agree. I'd rather give my stuff to Goodwill than sell it for next to nothing at a shop. I've tried three different places and found all to be a poor trade. I've had better luck selling in a mom swap group I belong to on FB.
I'm just confused why some are so shocked. I mean, I see things new with tags for $5. Doesn't that make one think that trading stuff in would not result in heap big money?? I've rarely seen any single thing for more than $10. Stands to reason that the way they make it cheap for you to buy is bc they don't pay out much.

I just don't get the outrage.
I brought in a bag of at least 35 items once, and I got 20 bucks. They were going to sell things in the bag for more than approx $2 a piece. Several Gymboree and Baby Gap items were in there, and they always high end them at $6-9 a piece. Basically, I got way less than even 50% of what they will mark it up for.
I'm not dumb; I realize they are a business and they have overhead. But IME, it's a ripoff.
I took my Chicco Trevi Stroller to a local consignment shop. It had been used maybe 10 times. They offered me $20 for a $180 stroller that I know damn well they were not going to sell for $40.
No offense, but that kind of stroller isn't going to fetch them a ton of money used. It's not a product like a BOB stroller or an ergo carrier that has a high resale value, KWIM?
I can't imagine they'd get significantly more than $40 even if the stroller was in good shape.
People tend to overexaggerate what their products are actually worth.
...but then you look around the store and see a beat up Cosco stroller that they are selling for $50.
Meh.
I totally agree. You'd do better selling your stroller on CL.
I've sold tons of the twins' sh!t to OUAC. I usually get $60 for half a tupperware tote full of clothes. The other half they don't buy, I end up donating to Goodwill. It's worth it for me. I don't care if they give me 0.50c for a piece of new clothing. I just want it the H out of my house. We've got far too much baby sh!t laying around here. I figure I may as well get a couple bucks for all of it.
