Thoughts on GMO's?

Do you avoid eating them? I stopped buying regular cheerios for my kids and now only buy the organic kind. I also try to avoid anything that is soy or corn based.

I came across this article today, and it's pretty scary!

Re: Thoughts on GMO's?

  • Yep, I try and avoid GMOs as much as possible.

I'm livid with the FDA, I know people know what "ethics" means, but it's much harder for them to act ethically. If our government can't protect us from eating poisonous foods, how are they truly there to protect our quality of life?
Other countries care about their citizens health, why can't ours?! This isn't ground breaking news. Grrr

  • I've been trying to avoid them, but it's really hard  b/c they seem to be in everything, and the stuff that is specifically labeled as not having them is so expensive.

  • I try to limit them as much as I can. Unfortunately right now since there is no law requiring labeling, I assume anything that doesn't say NO GMO, is GMO. Support Prop 37 and let's hope the US catches up to the rest of the industrialized world, in letting know it's citizens where it's food came from. /end rant

  • I try to avoid them whenever possible.  Price is always an issue for us we are a younger family just finishing school.  But as much as possible, Yes! I'm big on eating organically and I try not to eat boxed foods as well. I've watched quite a few documentaries that have changed my world. I also worked at a Chiropractic office for a Maximized living Chiropractor and they are huge on GMO's so I learnt a lot about them.  It really is very heartbreaking to find out how much our government doesn't care about our health.  Being healthy makes a lot of sense but doesn't make a lot of dollars =(   ( Heard this on food matters )

  • I highly recommend the documentary genetic roulette.  You will never want to eat genetically modified food again!  I hope Californians pass proposition 37.

  • I've been a bad mama, and have not been taking care of myself the way I should have since day 1. I let depression and anxiety get the best of me. Now that I'm a little over halfway there, I'm trying to dramatically change my ways. Especially after finding THIS article:

    https://www.naturalnews.com/037493_GMO_toxins_pregnant_women.html

I read it, and teared up a little. I was horrified. I knew GMOs were bad for any person, but this really slapped me in the face. One of my big weaknesses is queso and chips. Seriously, major weakness. This poor baby is going to be craving queso by the time he can talk. I've cut back a little, but to justify it, I have stopped eating ALL corn chips that are not organic. I've actually started trying to eat pretty much all organic, when I can. If I can't find an organic alternative, I at least steer clear of anything I know is usually GMO - corn, peanuts, soy, beet sugar - or anything that absorbs mucho chemicals, like berries, fruits and veggies with thinner skins, and any root vegetable. Soil health is a major problem in this country, and if it's not organic and grows in the soil, you know it's sucked up more chemicals than even the stuff that gets sprayed.
