Anyone else's hair falling out now?

Mine is.  I wonder if it is maybe because LO is nursing a bit less?  I mean, she still nurses pretty frequently, but I'd say she's dropped at least one session most days.

I'm not too worried about, I have ridiculously thick hair, but my drains are all going to be clogged!  Is this happening to anyone else?  Any other ideas about why it's happening now?

  • I used to lose a lot of hair every wash before pregnancy. During pregnancy, it all completely stopped. Then about 4 - 5 months after DD was born, I started losing massive amounts of hair. I have really thick, curly hair.

But it stopped around 9 mo. I am not sure what is going on with yours.

  • I went through a period of major hair loss (at least in my opinion) around 6 months pp (I quit nursing/pumping all together around 4)..  It lasted for a little while, I started taking biotin during that time.  The hair loss let up after a while...couldn't even tell you when, and I quit taking biotin.  In the last couple of weeks, I have noticed that once again, my hair loss is ramping up...no idea why and it is really irritating!

  • Since you are still nursing that will happen from time to time. After you fully wean it can start up again as the hormones are going back to normal and your body is still a mess trying to adjust.  Some ppl just have it more then others.

  • Mine has fallen out already, but I weaned at 11 1/2 months.  It never fails, right after I wean each time my hair just comes out by the handful!  Now I have a whole bunch of hair that is about 3 inches long.  I keep taking my prenatals because it makes my hair grow faster Stick out tongue so I can get back to the point of not having to wear clips when I pull my hair back.

  • While I know daily hair loss is a normal thing, I swear it gets heavier in cycles- I guess from hormones and whatnot.  I am on the tail end of a heavy hair loss cycle (either that or it's all in my head- no pun intended).  Stress can do it too.
