I "splurged" on some inexpensive Shock Top Pumpkin Harvest because it's beer and it's pumpkin and mommy needs a drink. I know the basic rules of drinking and breastfeeding and how alcohol leaves your milk just as it leaves the blood. But I'm still scared and staring at this beer with a look of "I want you but I don't know how"
I should be good cracking one open immediately after a feeding, right? I'm a large person and it takes a bit to get me intoxicated. It's also only 5.2 alcohol my favorite beer is 8 or 9 I believe so I'm still too hesitant there
I'm so excited but so nervous. Anyway, I don't know, make fun of me for waiting so long to have a freakin' drink or something.
Re: okay I BOUGHT BEER
My mom is coming back and said she would get up with the baby all night, when she comes I'm having a drink.
I still haven't had a full drink and I'm 6 weeks PP tomorrow.
I did order a Summer Shandy because my friends said it was amazing. I planned to drink it, then pump and test it to see if there was alcohol after just one drink. Well it was nasty and I could only down about 1/3 of a small glass. Well about 15 minutes later I felt a slight buzz!!! Total lightweight over here. I can't wait to enjoy a glass of wine when I get the guts to do it, I'll be wasted I'm sure.
Goose Island's Matilda! It's a Chicago brewery so I don't know how wide the distribution is. And it's 7%, the 8% I was thinking of is their Pere Jacques, also delicious. But what I'm REALLY excited for is some Buffalo Trace whiskey with Pepsi Throwback... that's a ways off, though.
I think I'll wait until tomorrow for the beer, when DH is home from work, since he's about to go to bed right now. I don't anticipate having any problems but just in case it does make me unnaturally tired, I want him around and able to take care of the baby.

Oh, and trust me... Just because you could drink like a tank before, doesn't mean you can now. I was a pretty heavy drinker pre pregnancy. I was newly single, plus I had just turned 21. I could outdrink even most of my guy friends. I now feel like one drink and I'm tipsy.
Yep, time it right after a feeding. I wait till she's gone down for the night cause DH does the next feeding with a bottle of pumped BM from the morning. It feels like a safe way to enjoy wine again.
Once or twice I have tried to have a glass during happy hour but invariably, LO wakes up early. She can nap for 2.5 hours if I'm not trying to drink, but if I am, she'll be awake 20 minutes after I put her down. Oh well. Those couple times made me glad I have a freezer stash!
