TTC after 35

Had to laugh

So this is my first month temping and I confess I am a little obsessive about it, after a year of BFN's. So I started coughing in my sleep last night and I woke up, I panicked because I didn't know what time it was so I stifled my cough until I could gently roll over and the look at the clock...whew it was 1am, I could successfully cough and still get correct temp at 6am! I had to laugh at myself :)

Re: Had to laugh

  • I do stuff like that too!  Like if I wake up and have to pee I look at the clock 1st to decide if I can safely get up and do it or if I need to try to go back to sleep.  It's madness!
Me: 40 Dh: 41, TTC since August 2009, began Acupuncture and Herbs Sept 2011, began Temping and Charting Nov 2011. image

  • So glad I'm not the only one who goes temping crazy like that.
Me 39 & suspected PCOS, DH 42. Went off BCP when we got married in 11/11, seriously TTC since 3/12.  Six cycles of clomid = BFNs.  Suspected endometriosis & HSG showed both tubes blocked.  Sept 2013 IVF 5D transfer of two perfect embryos = BFN.  Started acupuncture and taking time off to drop some pounds & get healthier before FET in April 2014.
  • That's why I had to stop temping. It was making me crazy with all the worrying about sleeping enough consecutive hours and waking up at the right time!

  • @10-4lilbud I agree, part of me is glad I didn;t succumb to temping when it was suggested to me several months ago (when I bought my thermometer). Part of me wishes I did, especially on some of those cycles that I really thought I was going to get a BFP, because of symptoms and such...I see the specialist in Nov, I didn't want him to suggest I temp 3 months before we do anything so I thouht I should start...we shall see!

Good Luck to everyone hoping for a slew of BFP's!

My RE doesn't use temping.  She says it's unreliable - especially for people who have sleep issues like me.  My charts were crazy looking because I wake up several times a night and sleep extremely hot.

I think the guideline is going to the RE when you've been unsuccessful for six months. The only hurdle to begin treatment is all the bloodwork, HSG, SA. Your tests will be cycle driven because they want to see them on certain cycle days.

Thanks for the info. we have been TTC since July '11. DH will be getting his 4th SA in two weeks (first was terrible the rest ok, but Urologists says every 3 months till we C) I also had a HSG in December '11 - I hope I do not have to have that done again (it was good)...it was excrutiatingly painful - took 15 minutes to get speculum in, I was in tears, process was so painful and then the dye didn't agree with me, i was nasueas and sick all day. Thank God DH was with me I would never have made it home
