Paci weaning

Ok ladies how long did it take to officially wean LO of the paci? DD got hers for sleeping and in the car. But she is waking at night looking for it and we are all getting crappy sleep. We tried adding pacis and she just played with them. We tried hooking it to her but she got tangled in it. So out last resort is weaning. We cut the nipple of one tonight and she refused it but kept asking for it. She's asleep now but I fear worse sleep before it gets better...
How many bad nights did you have??

We haven't done it yet, but when we finally do, I think we will just take them away cold turkey. If it goes anything like sleep-training did, it will be 3 days of adjustment, and she'll move on. However, since we solved our night time issue, we aren't in a huge rush to lose them--especially since she only gets them for sleep and diaper changes.

We lasted almost two full nights and gave it back... I caught her sucking her thumb the second night and we dont want to replace one bad habit with another. We are only doing bed time as of right now though she hasn't needed it for naps so far.
