Sleeping 6/7 hours at once... wake to eat @ 4 weeks?!

On fri night LO slept 7 hours, up for an hour to feed, slept another 3. Last night she slept for 6.5 consecutive hours. If she decides to nap again then she will just sleep through church! Amazed by this sleep.  Missed LNCI TWICE IN A ROW!??!  Slowly gettin over my strep throat thanks to our new swaddle technique. the 5 S dudu technique. Yay!!

Edit: I have a question about this- how much sleep is too much sleep re: feedings.  Because of her 'acid reflux' she had lost 4 oz in 3 days... but since swaddling her acid reflux has really not been a problem for whatever reason.  Should I be waking her up mid-sleep for a feeding?  She is 11.7 lbs @ 4 weeks, so a totally massive child anyways, but losing weight is still never good.  Thoughts/ideas/advice for me?  Thanks!

  • That's awesome! Yay for consecutive hours of sleep!

  • That is great, I hope she keeps it up! Could you please tell Chloe to tell all the other babies that don't like to sleep that it's the best thing ever? My almost 6 week old still thinks it's cool to only sleep 2 hrs at a time, unless she sleeps with me.

Sorry, not sure about the weight. I would think if Chloe is sleeping and content, and she's up to her birthweight, then let her sleep. But, this is coming from someone who would kill for her child to STTN!

  • Congrats! My pedi said once they're up to their birthweight no need to wake for feedings. I think based in your previous posts that your DD has the hang of eating. She will wake when she's hungry!

  • My LO slept 6 hours last night for the first time ever. Then another 4 after his feeding. It was amazing. I'm hoping it wasn't a fluke and he will start doing longer stretches from here on out. Yay for sleep!

ETA..about waking to feed and the weight, I'm not too sure. Trace went 7 and a half hours without a feed when he slept for the 6 hours, but like others said when they are hungry they will wake. So I wouldn't consider it a problem.

  • I got myself a HUGE kiddo too but he will only sleep 3.5 hrs at the most then wakes up starving! We had 1 night that he slept 5, but that was it.

I say, if your LO isn't waking to eat take advantage of it and just let her sleep. You're lucky. :D

  • I decided to pump and see how much she's eating to see if she's still getting enough.  Turns out that a week ago/2 weeks ago she was only eating 1-2 oz a feeding, every 2 hours-3 hours, now she's eating more like 4-5 oz and just way less often.  So I'm gonna go ahead and praise the Lord for this baby that is sleeping and eating epicly.  Epically?  Amzingly.  Whatever.  YES.  Thanks for the advice ladies!
