STM and delivery timing

With my son I 'knew' I was going to be late. I was then induced at 41 weeks.

With this one I feel like I'm going to go early my mom said she thought the same thing.

Anyone else feel one way or another and were right??

Re: STM and delivery timing

  • I was certain I'd go early but DD was born right on her due date.

I second this one!  I had DD's room ready at least 10 weeks early (I was induced at 39w5d).  Here I am with less than 10 weeks to go and I've barely begun.  I feel like DD2.0 will come early as punishment for not being ready.

  • @ 31 weeks I have been put on modified bed rest and I wonder if it is any indication if I will be early.  I have read no - but I feel like I will be early.  I already had pre-term labor and had to have two shots of terbutiline.

Now that I can't be on my feet I am mad I didn't get more stuff done sooner.  Make better use of my time.  So much to do - but it requires being on my feet! ahh

This exactly.  With DS1 I had to be induced.

  • I kind of felt like I would go early with DS, even though I tried to tell myself he'd be late. I just kept feeling pressure to have everything ready by the time I hit 37 weeks. He came at 37 weeks.

This time I also feel like I'm going to go early, but I'm really really trying to convince myself otherwise. Mostly because I know it's going to be hard, even if he comes on time, but I'm pregnant for 2-3 weeks longer than last time!

  • For DD in 2010:

    EED 1 = Sept 1

EED 2 = Sept 18 (changed after early A/S at 9 weeks that showed I was closer to 7 weeks)

Actual = Sept 12 ... which is what I was saying all along, I was induced due to high blood pressure in the am of the 12th

    For DS now:

    EED 1 = Nov 9

    EED 2 = Nov 11

My guess = Nov 2 or Nov 12 ... but baby is measuring in the 97th percentile so I'll either be induced at 39 weeks or have a C/S

  • I had DS1 at 38wks and was convinced DS2 was going to come early.  I ended up induced after my EDD with DS2.  I feel like this one will be early, but I am fully prepared to have a December baby.  It's terrible, but I'm actually hoping he comes late or at least really close to my EDD because that way I'll get out of both Thanksgiving and Christmas with my husbands HUGE and "In your face" extended family...  Embarrassed  The functions are held an hour away (2hrs from our hospital) and so Thanksgiving is pretty much out.  Since there are a ton of kids, all under 10yrs, I'm not going to Christmas either (DH will just bring DS1 and DS2).  I'm a terrible person, but I know the day will consist of demands of playing baby hot-potato and when I say no or refuse to let the kids hold my less than 6wk old, I will get bashed and yelled at by his family.  No thank you.

Oh this sounds JUST like my husband's family!! After my last son was born, he was three weeks old when it was time for their family reunion- SIX HOURS away with a bunch of totally crazy people and nasty kids. So I opted out and my husband went up with our other son. I STILL get crap about it and it pisses me off ("oh, that's right, that was the reunion that you just wouldn't come to") Umm... back the hell off. I did what was right for my THREE WEEK OLD INFANT. not to mention I still had hemorrhoids. Rant over.

To answer the question, my boys were both born at 39 weeks exactly without inductions of any kind. I have a feeling that this baby girl will come between 38-39 weeks but am also fully prepared to go to 40 or beyond. Who knows? This could be my 42-weeker... but I hope not!

  • With DD I was absolutely convinced I'd go late and basically told all of FB that I would not tolerate any "what? No baby yet?" comments until a week after my due date. Then DD came 3 weeks early ans surprised EVERYONE. Well, evidently everyone except my OB who confessed to thinking she'd come early as she was stitching me up after delivery. She won't cave to giving any predictions this time but for some reason I feel like I'll go at 36 weeks. But I'm also trying to prepare myself mentally to go longer so I'm not super impatient and miserable that last month.

  • This kid will come early, just to be a pain in the ass, lol. She has already been giving me a run for my money this pregnancy, so it would be par for the course. We are closing on a house in a little over a week, I am really trying to work as long as possible, life is kind of busy, blah blah blah. So I fully expect her to put a cramp in my style and just make things a little inconvenient, ha!
