10 weeks...and feel like I'm going to die!!

I am 10 weeks and 1 day and feel worse than ever. Nausea all day every day, so exhausted no matter how much I sleep, have the worst metal yuck mouth and today I feel like I'm going to faint every time I stand up.

Is there anyone else out there that feels like this?

I've drank ginger ale so much that I cant stand the site of it now, the same with saltines. Pretzels were helping the nausea for a bit, but not so much now.

Nothing gets rid of the metal taste in my mouth.

Any one else out there have any suggestions to cure some of this for the next two weeks. I'm praying this mess subsides after I hit 12 weeks.

 Thanks!

  • The taste in my mouth has bugged me a lot -- mine hasn't been metal though more like a sour taste.  Anyway, lemon drops actually have helped, as has chewing gum, which also tends to settle my tummy.

    Good luck!

  • I'm right there suffering with you! Once I hit 10 weeks I became worse than ever. Actually I've been getting progressively worse since week 9. Luckily I haven't been throwing up, but the nausea is relentless. I'm incredibly tired, I get dizzy/motion sickness, and generally feel like crap. I haven't noticed a metal taste in my mouth but I do feel more thirsty. I hear you on the being sick of saltines thing, but it does still help me. I have been sucking on sour jolly ranchers, which gives me temporary relief of nausea. Maybe hard candies will also help with the metal taste? Drinking lemonade has also helps me. Luckily I'm still able to eat normal foods, I just eat whatever I can tolerate at the moment.

I look forward  to waking up one day and feeling normal again! I'm optimistic it will happen soon!

  • I was feeling really bad in the beginning of the week but it has since subsided. My problem now is spitting I can't stop.  As for the metal taste I was talking to a co-worker who had a baby almost a year ago he said his wife would eat red hots and that was the only way she could get rid of the taste so I tried cinnamon sugar free gum and that helped me.

You are not alone.  I promise.  I know exactly what you are talking about.  I have the puking issues, too.  What has helped me is zofran & phenegran.  Talk to your doctor- if this doesnt subside for you soon.  Will be thinking about you.

  • I am 10w2d. *Knock on wood* overall, i have been feeling better than I was the past few weeks. Even though I just started throwing up every day since Saturday, I don't feel as horribly nauseous all day long. It hits me around 6pm (right when I get home from work). Hard candies have been a lifesaver!! (Literally!) I have a stash of jolly ranchers and lifesavers in my desk and it helps with the taste in my mouth as well as the nausea.

Since you're sick of ginger ale, have you tried making ginger tea?

  • My dr told me that most 1st tri symptoms peak at weeks 8-10...so look on the bright side, you should be on the downward slope soon!

About getting dizzy, stand up slowly, especially if its from laying down. In the mornings, I have to sit up on the bed for 15 seconds, then slowly stand, otherwise I almost faint too.  It also happens if I just stand up too fast, so just be aware and take it slow.

Maybe try to mix up the ginger ale and crackers with some fresh fruit?  Try a little nibble, the juiciness & sweetness might be a nice contrast.  And keep drinking water!!!

The exhaustion...well, not much we can do about that but try to get to bed early, and if you are lucky enough to squeeze in a nap, that too.  Otherwise, taking frequent breaks at work to walk around the floor or pop outside for fresh air and a brisk walk for 5-10 minutes seem to help me a little bit.

    Hang in there!

  • I am 10 weeks today and haven't felt totally crappy, but also haven't felt great either. What is getting me through this is knowing it's just a phase, the beginning phase of pregnancy. With my DS, I remember now that I felt the same way, but I also remember it went away and became a distant memory (until I felt the same with this baby). The good side is that you are 10 weeks..so close to the 2nd tri...you're almost there! Just take one day at a time- you got this :)

  • Ugh! I felt totally fine and normal again at 9 weeks and thought I was in the clear. I even had the energy to take the dogs out for a long walk yesterday after work. Then, 10pm hit  last night and I thought I wasn't going to be able to fall asleep because I felt so much like I was going to vomit. Now this morning is the same, my head is pounding which is making my eyes water and I can hardly stay awake. FX this is very temporary!

  • Can you get medication?? I've been on dicletin since I was 6 wks. I don't know how I could have made it this far w/o it. No amount of crackers, Ginger ale, Ginger tea, soup could make it better. But now that I'm on meds, I can function better

  • Metal taste in your mouth, how much Iron is in your prenatals, I found a prenatal with no iron, I have always had high iron.  Might be something to check into.
