Update: 32 weeks preterm labor water broke

44 hours ago, I rushed to the hospital when I woke up in the middle of the night & my water broke (5am). I was only at 32 weeks & 3 days. All day yesterday & today, they gave me meds to try & stop my contractions. The goal was to keep the baby inside me as long as possible. I was prepared to do bed rest at the hospital for the next 3 weeks. I was doing really well until this evening.
24 hrs later, contractions kept getting stronger regardless of meds. Between 7-9pm, they were every 8 minutes apart or so. Still bearable. I still had no plans on having this baby tonight. I wanted stronger meds to keep my baby inside me. At 10pm, I kept feeling the urge to have a bowel movement. I had been trying to go poop in my bed pan all day...so hard! I must have tried for 20 minutes to push out some poop. Nothing! What I didn't realize is that my pushing actually was moving the baby out. Same muscles. This baby was on the way! By 11pm, the drs got their team together for my delivery. At 11:30pm, they said my cervix was completely dilated already.
Unfortunately I sent my husband home at 10pm. By the time things were moving along, I called him at 11:30pm to RUSH back. I kept waiting until he got there before I let the drs get started. Contractions were SOOOO painful that last half hour waiting for him. No time for an epidural! Hubby arrived at 11:55pm when I was going though a contraction. He made it! The very next contraction, drs had me push 3 times and my baby girl came out crying and with lots of hair for 32weeks.
Baby was 3 lbs 9 oz and 17.5 inches long. Very small, but looked good. Will be in the NICU for a little while. Don't know how long yet, but nurses said she is doing extremely well! Praise God!
Thanks to everyone for your thoughts & prayers! My husband and I are thrilled to finally be parents. Very happy!

I am 31w6d and on bed rest to prevent pre-term labor - your story gives me hope that if she does come early that it will be ok.

That is scary, but so glad you are both doing well. I hope her stay in NICU is short and easy.

Congrats! I'm so glad everyone is doing well.
I'm glad everything is going well! Hopefully she gets all the care she needs and her NICu stay isn't too long, so you can cuddle her all you want. Continuing T&P for you.

Oh my goodness, congratulations! I'm so glad she is healthy and doing well. I agree with PP that she's a great size for a 32 weeker. I hope she is able to go home very soon.
I can't believe one of us has an actual outside baby now!
