FWIW.....I never had to any of that with DS1. He wasn't interested in electrical outlets, things in cabinets etc. You may want to wait on some of that to see if it's necessary. We will definitely put gates at our two staircases. The older boys want the things on their door knobs so he LO can't destroy their rooms. Bahahahaha!

We haven't started yet, but we're going to hire someone to come in and do everything. Our friends did this and it wasn't too expensive and it eliminates having to do all the research of what you need.
Just when I think it is...DS finds something new to destroy Also, the only doorknob locks that they sold at BRU didn't fit on our door handles. So we just lock the front doors and don't leave DS alone if the patio doors are open. He has escaped before.
When we moved in, we replaced all the outlets (they were cream colored and I wanted them white) with child-proof outlets so we didn't need covers. We got corner covers for our sharpest tables and fashioned a box-cover type thing for the front of our stone fireplace (after DS fell into it and cut his forehead open, needing 3 stitches when he was 11 months old)

Not really. Our cats' litterbox is in our basement and we keep the door to our basement ajar for them. We knew that once Hank started crawling we would have to deal with it. We got a jump on it today and DH installed a cat door tonight after work.
Not at all. The only room that has outlet covers is C's nursery. We will have some major baby proofing to do. Our fireplace is my main concern so we will have to get the edge protectors. Also locks for the cabinet doors where cleaning supplies is kept. Oh lord, I don't really want to think about this already!
Also, I may just be the one rushing my child to to the ER after he swallows a penny. DH is AWFUL about leaving loose change around. It's one of my pet peeves and whenever I see it I usually go put it in C's piggy bank.
No, and it TOTALLY depends on your kid. I'm not joking when I say we hardly had to babyproof for DS1 because he never got into anything. Obviously we did the dangerous things like outlet covers, but we never got cabinet locks for the kitchen (except for the cleaning supplies cabinet), and we never covered the table edges. He was a very careful baby, if that makes sense. But some of my friends' kids got into everything and their houses were locked DOWN. Wait and see is what I would suggest.
That said, I do have to get DS1 to start picking up his marbles from the floor.

we just need to put up the baby gates and plug in the outlet covers but we have that stuff, we just need to do it.
And we already have the wall anchors for our entertainment center and bookshelves. but my fiance already has the house pretty baby safe from his first son.

HAHAHAHA... NO. Our house isn't even adult proof. MIL "babyproofed" our house some because my SIL, BIL were coming to "help" me out after having ds and she didn't want my nephew to get hurt but I undid everything she did. I don't think that putting cleaners above the stove is safer or liquor next to our furnace.
Nope. We do have a gate at the top of the stairs but it's to keep the animals downstairs.
And we moved our collection of brand new "extra sharp" knives from the bottom drawer when my sister visited with her 20 month old. True story, we had a big drawer filled with extra sharp knives within the reach of a kiddo... Oops.
M is starting to do this head crawling thing and she can get around a bit. So now I'm worried that proper crawling is not eons in the future like I kinda hoped it would be. Sigh

He impresses me so much with his handiness.
