Avocados are just kind of blah without seasoning, but he's a baby and doesn't know any better. If it's bitter, it might have been underripe. I wouldn't feed him an underripe avocado. Was it soft to the touch?

Ohhh. Heh, I know nothing about avocados since I don't eat them. It was semi-soft? Not super hard but not squishy soft. How is it supposed to be?

They're supposed to give under gentle pressure when they're ready to eat. If it's ripe, it won't taste bitter, it'll just be bland.
What about a little bit of breastmilk? Or, if you make a plain apple puree, maybe that would sweeten it up without making it liquid-y!
Well, sadly breastmilk won't work. I don't think I could squeeze my boobs to get any out, they've been dried up for months! haha. And we don't have any apples right now, dangit! I may just try it as is today and see what he does. Better get out the camera, this is gunna be good.
Oh whoops, sorry! You never know, Cam might really like avocados au naturale :P Or, you could get some really great pictures like your green beans pictures!

Avocados taste bad when they are over ripe to. They should be about the consistency of your relaxed muscle in your arm. Pilar loves avocado. There is no need to puree they just smush up just fine.

Avocados freak me out sort of. It's a bit like eating a stick of butter I think.
Though if it's made into guac that is more acceptable. But just eating chunks of it... nah. I will eat it if it is in a salad but I am not a huge fan. But I would think if a baby will eat rice cereal which tastes truly disgusting (IMO) they'd eat anything.
I've heard of people mixing it with milk so that would definitely be worth a try!

hahahahha, it does freak me out! Its such a weird texture/consistency. It tastes NOT like I think it would! And thats true about the rice cereal...ugh, that was horrible. I might try it with a little bit of formula before I give it to him, too! That might help.
I always combined bananas and avocado for Hazel. Ate it right up!
i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.
Well I LOVE avocados. But I definitely understand when people hate them. The texture and flavor doesn't seem like it would be a hit. I'd say you puree'd them at the right time. As long as they're bright green and slightly soft, they're good to go. The overripe ones get bitter, but they also look brown or black.
I am very excited for avocado season. I will be joining in the baby food tasting for that food especially. Do anyone have tips for saving the food? Can you freeze the puree?

It should give readily to pressure.
It shouldn't taste bitter though.

a) you don't need to puree avocado, I only did it once when Jake cut up one that wasn't totally ripe yet and it was a PITA. Mash w spoon.
b) Babies love avocado. They taste amazing.
c) AVOCADOS ARE DELICIOUS
I LOVED the avocado pureed. So did LO....we just used water.Nice, mild flavor.
HAHA Love this one!! Glad he liked it!
Agreed. Bananas and avocado are a baby favorite!
DUH, he needs a little garlic in there. And some chips!
Another vote for bananas and avocado. DS loved it that way.
Great pictures!
