Rnp questions

Does anyone use this and this only to have their LO sleep in?

We were using this and a bassinet.. but for a week now, LO has had some pretty significant nasal drainage from a cold.. so we have her upright in this....every nap.. will she ever go back to a bassinet? We are concerned that long time use will cause problems later on when we try to get her to sleep in her crib.. thoughts?

ALso--- my LO tends to sleep with her head to one side-- the same side.. each night.... nervous about torticollis  or flat head forming.. any thoughts on that either?

We have an appointment Thursday for her 2 month.. but wanted to get others thoughts..

thanks!

Re: Rnp questions

  • We used only the rock and play until last week. Now he naps in his crib and sleeps in the rnp at night. The transition took a little bit, but wasn't too bad at all. Hopefully the night switch will go smoothly when we do it!

  • Lo sleeps in the RnP at night next to our bed, but during the day I try to put him down for naps in his crib. I also use the swing for naps. I started putting him down for naps in the crib because he has to be in a crib at daycare.

I would be concerned about the torticollis/flat head. There are many reports of the RnP causing this!

  • With DD1 we did swing for naps and RnP for nighttime until 3.5 months we tried switching her to her crib. Not to be the Debbie downer of the group, but for us the transition was hard. Idk if the 4mw came at the same time, but our sttn since 5 weeks old baby became an awake 6-7 times a night baby. The flat huge open space made it hard for te transition. Also, the swing for naps was difficult to break as well. With DD2, we are trying to not use the swing for naps, but she has reflux really badly and has ended up in there as well as the RnP. If she falls asleep in the swing I just turn it off and then leave her.

About the flat head, DD1 definitely has a flat spot on the back of her head. I notice it, but no one else does.

  • My baby only sleeps in the RnP at night too.  During the day he naps in a bassinet or on his belly on the floor.  I'm nervous about transitioning him to the crib because the RnP snuggles him in so much. I had asked our doctor about it and he didn't seem concerned, just said we'll need to transition him eventually and it might take a night or two but otherwise no worries.  I'm hoping that once he starts daycare and she has him in a crib for naps, it'll be easier to put him in the crib at night.
