Post Partum underwear

Quick question..I am finishing up shopping for my hospital bag (yes I know at 39 weeks this is serious procrastination). Anywho, let's talk underwear. I bought the Always Infinity overnights. So with those, is it really necessary to buy "trash" underwear, so to speak ?? Or do these pads and the hospital pads do a good job of containing the blood ??

Re: Post Partum underwear

  • I'm one of those seemingly rare women who did NOT like the mesh panties the hospital gave me so this time I am bringing my own underwear.  I bought a package of pretty printed granny panties for my hospital bag knowing that they may or may not survive.  I'm expecting them to be tossed.  And the Always Infinity are awesome.  I have a brand new box waiting to go in my hospital bag too =-)

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one !! I am cringing at the thought of those God awful underwear and I want to take a pack of my own. I want to find an all black pack, however I can't, so I guess I will just take what I can find :) lol

Question..did you use the hospital "thunderpads" or are you using your own ??

  • I still swear by Depends. I used them a bunch when the bleeding was heavy. Then I switched to using them like disposable undies with a pad. I bled pretty heavily the first week and decently the couple following though.

  • I used the "thunderpads" at first because (and talk about awkward) the nurses insisted on cleaning me up while I was in the bathroom and attached the pads themselves.  I think it was part of their protocol.  I want to say it was the next day that I took over the job.

Yes!  Also the Poise pads work pretty well too!

  • I did wear the mesh panties for a few days because the hospital had frozen pads that I learned to loooooooove. Then I switched to my 3XL giant granny panties that fit a heavy duty pad and were super duper comfy, and I'm still wearing them. They're guge and come up to my belly button but they are sooo nice.

  • I picked up a pack of Hanes bikini cut cotton underwear in a size larger than I normally wear.

  • I wore the mesh panties and hospital pads the first day and leaked still. I have first degree tear The bleeding lightened up a little the second day and I wore Hanes bikini briefs and the always overnight pads with wings and didn't leak at all.
