Re: S/O Christmas - Gifts from Santa

  • Growing up, all of our gifts were from Santa and were wrapped. We didn't get Christmas gifts from our parents and I plan on doing the same for my kids. DH's parents didn't wrap Santa gifts and had them assembled under/around the tree. I don't like that way.

  • All of her gifts from Santa will be wrapped in the same paper and each year that paper will have Santa on it and all of the other paper won't.

  • I think its just more fun to have for each gift to have its moment of exciment when they unwrap it.  Santa will have seperate wrapping paper.  Our tradition is that Santa brings toys and fun things and mom and dad gave clothes and essentials.

  • This is a VERY serious and ongoing debate in my household between my husband and myself, lol.  I was raised unwrapped (from Santa only)....he was raised wrapped in special paper (from Santa only).  Parents gifts were wrapped sep. for both.

  • Gifts from Santa are wrapped (each kid will have his own wrapping paper, and it won't be used on any other gifts aside from santa ones).  However, items in the stocking are never wrapped.  Santa is too lazy for that. Stick out tongue

  • Nope. Santa gifts are the only ones that aren't wrapped.

I use Christmas to stock up on winter clothes, socks, shoes, etc. Santa brings toys and fun stuff. Will Santa also bring the essential stuff or will you guys just not do that?

So funny. Our Santa doesn't wrap anything but now that I think about it, he does wrap the stocking stuff. Makes it take longer than just pouring it all out. We put tons of tape too....haha

  • I think our Santa gifts are going to be the ones that are too big to wrap.  So I voted no to wrapping.

ETA: That way I can still wrap things ahead of time to put under the tree (because it's so much prettier with presents) but still have some Santa gifts for the kid(dos).

  • Yup, I grew up having everything wrapped. I'll just use different paper from Santa. If I ever screw up, I'll just say Santa dropped it off late and was running late and asked me to wrap for him.

  • I don't remember if my gifts from "him" were wrapped or not. I like the idea that Santa's gifts are wrapped in Santa paper. :) I think I might borrow that idea.

    Santa brings everything.

  • Santa brought everything- toys, clothes, etc.

I was one of 3 kids, and each child had their own pile every year, all wrapped. My brother was red, I was blue, my sister was green. The paper was always patterned, but we knew our general color (ex. blue might be blue background with snowmen on it, red might be santas on it, etc).

I loved how my family did it.

I think we will have the girls be their own paper as well, all wrapped. However, the gifts that Santa brings to BOTH of them (shared larger items) will NOT be wrapped. We will use separate paper for gifts under the tree that are to each other and other family members.  I like to put those under the tree early, anyway.

  • We've always wrapped everything. Santa gifts are wrapped in Santa paper & other gifts are wrapped in different paper. That's how my family did it & that's what I will continue doing. DH's family just put everything out in front of the Christmas tree unwrapped. So boring, because the shock value is over in 2.0 seconds!!
